I am thinking of applying as a bank teller. However, some people tell me that they work early mornings or late at nights. Is that true? Also., what are the normal working hours? are they 9-5 when there are people at the bank or do they come in earlier? stay later or what?

Most banks are open from 9-5. Depending on the clientele they usually stay open an extra hour on Thursday or Friday. Credit unions may have hours a little different. I work at a credit union and we open 30 minutes earlier. We are required to be here 15 minutes before opening in order to get our money, etc. in order. We leave when we finish counting our drawers. Of course if you don't balance that may require extra time to find it. As with any other jobs there are staff meetings or training from time to time, but nothing to fret about. Happy job hunting!

My normal hours were 8:30 to 4:00. On Fridays, we stayed until 5. Sometimes we had early meetings, and if your cash drawer didn't balance at the end of the day, you stayed until you found the mistake.
