Been married almost 18 years, dated two before that, knew him for one before that.
The secret is hard work, not what everyone wants to usually hear. In those bad times, the hard times, what makes us come out of everything unscathed is this deep and abiding love we have for one another. It grows deeper and more wonderful every year - we seem to have more love, and fun, and lust. That's what love is - and it's very easy to stay loving the person you maturely and truly committed yourself to.
By the work, I mean the nurturing, the caring for and the loving - through each day, every day. Never going to bed mad, always talking things out even when you don't want to look into his eyes, etc. It takes a lot of communication, and listening.

working hard to stay in love is the secret lol to be honest there is no secret its hard to stay in love but if you fall out of love its your fault sometimes love is boring

so what you should do is take time for the both of you to go out and have fun like you used to and let small things go when you get into a fight stop and think how important it really is i mean if he leaves the milk out and you get into a fight you need to let things go

oh also give compiments and tell him you love him and try to make that person a better person those are just somethings that help

I just found a new love.....but he does not know it yet..lol. But anyways....my secret for staying in love is to always keep it real, be totally honest and communicate. Plus always keep the fire going and change it up. We laugh at each other, play jokes and games. We were friends first, now we are getting closer and closer.

12 yrs. I keep reminding myself that whatever I find attractive in someone else is going to be temporary. And I don't won't to go through all that again. Just keep what you got and drive on. Love is as much a matter of will as it is an affair of the heart. You can choose to stay in love.

I pinch myself when I feel that I am going to argue. Argument makes things worse. I remember all the good reasons why I love my partner and slowly but surely a pass my point on to him in joke form but one point at a time, I have to remind myself. If not I stir trouble up. Comprimise is the name of the game for me.

Tough one!! You BOTH have to constantly work at it.. Try to keep things fresh... I like to try and surprise her with an occasional trinket, flowers, or sometimes just a hand written note placed somewhere where I know she will find it during the day... She surprises me with trips... We both joke around a lot and I try and not be too predictable.... Been married 19 years... together for 23...

I don't think there is any one thing that makes a marriage last, it is a multitude of things, foremost commitment. My inlaws have been married for 40 years, my grandparents for 62 years and I have only been married for 8 years.

In love for 10 years. Married 8.

Communicate. Trust. Sometimes, you have to give without expecting in return. Do special things for no reason. They willl do it for you.
