For environmental solutions yes we suck because we are too motivated by money and power. Look how fast Bush and Harper are moving on bio fuels and the 'Hydrogen" highway now that they think it will take money out of the hands of terrorists. LOL! Gee, I cannot believe they are more afraid of those guys than the threat of human extinction by global environmental changes. LOL! We are backward!

I know that technology in Europe gets slowed down from coming on the market here or even kept out because of our old stuff. Stoves, fridges, washers and so on are good examples of that! I got that from an appliance store owner.

Bigotted, sexist, racist jokes yahour standards 'suck'. I had a friend from Finland. She was a very fair natural blonde and very pretty. She couln't stand the way she saw blonde women portrayed here and the bleeched blonde thing! She had been going to immegrate and she went back. She was a trained nurse, went through all the retraining here, got a job, couldn't stand the way nurses were treated here either. (Canada)Very over worked people nurses.

Arrogance and difficulty with accepting that we are not superior to other countries on this planet. The US is terrible for that! You see it on their television a lot. Flags strategically placed on sitcoms (are you afraid people will think the show is Canadian?Nah!) , and same sort of best coountry remarks. Gag! Don't get me wrong, I think Canada is the best! I just recognise that it isn't perfect...a work in progress and that there is a lot to offer around the world beside sorrow and poverty! We have that here to but we blame our poor more for their lot here. Maybe, I shouldn't generalize. Sorry.

This question is rant material isn't it?

By now!

Because people try to stick to the "norm" so to speak. But if you think about it...what is normal? Isn't it the standard of things and people to be unique? Kind of a double standard if you ask me. Society's standards do suck, I agree with you on that. But think outside of the box, meet new people, be unique, and you will find what you are looking for somewhere.

Because people like you think that every idea that pops into your heads are the direct words of God.

We lack a standard. We used to have the Bible and Western ettiquette. Today there is nothing but post-Watergate, post-Christian doubting and sarcasm. That, sir, is why our "standards" suck.

Because there are bazillions of us and we have to set a standard or there would be Kayos. Like smoking around people, see it's just not pretty without standards.
