Do they see the walk/don't walk signal? I see dogs leading their owners around downtown but can't figure out how they know when the light changes.

They are trianed most street lights now have a buzer or a beep so the dog and the person know when to cross. Some even have a whisle that only the dog could hear.

Great question 30 .... Dogs are color-blind and can't read traffic lights. The dog's OWNER learns to judge the movement of traffic by its sounds. At the appropriate time, he or she will command the dog, "forward." The dog will not carry out the command until it is safe to do so. This is called "intelligent disobedience."

That is a good Q. I do know they are trained very well. They have to a lot of test just to become a seeing-eye dog.

Have you ever noticed that loud "TWEET TWEET" sound that starts up when the walk light comes on? Thats for both person and dog, to let them know its ok to cross.

Good question since we know dogs are colorblind. They're trained from a very young age for the blind.

well, seeing how dogs are color blind, i doubt it has anything to do with the lights,
so im guessing it has to do with cars whizzing by them!!
