I'd say if you don't know, then you really aren't a car guy. No offense, but no one should be telling which car to restore/customize. It should be a car you've dreamed about since you were a kid. Everyone has different tastes. I'm a Mopar girl, but there are also die hard Ford & Chevy guys out there and each one of us will have our own opinion on which car would be best.
I do, however, have to agree with the guy that said that doing a customization will bring a cars value down, especially where Mopars are concerned, since it's more of a personalization and not everyone may like your taste AND it's no longer original. One more hint: stay brand loyal. I can't stand it when you have a perfectly good Ford or Chrysler and someone sticks a Chevy bullet in it.....just to make it "easier".

Well the benefit of customizing a car is that you can do anything you want to it. Therefore, you could start with any car you want, it's personal preference. I'd like a 66 Mustang coupe because I like the look of the car. If you weren't planning on putting in a beefed up/custom engine, you'd probably want something with a blig block like these guys have mentioned: GTO, Challenger, Charger, etc.

1959 Bel Air With it's wide flat fins, it is SO ugly that it is a unique beauty. Parts are not easy to come by though, the three carb'ed engine for the faster of the '59s was produced '58 to '60 only. Good news is that many other Chevy classic engines and transmissions fit nicely.

I wouldn't TOUCH a true muscle car. They're worth much, much more in stock condition than modified. Some early 'Cudas, Challengers, and even Chargers go for more than $ 100,000; why would you try to ruin a car with that kind of value?
