i personally think a chapter should be as long as it needs to be... if you're thinking titles then as long as the chapter brings a lil of the past, focuses on the main issue and then gives something to lead the next chapter.

I have read a lot of books, and the range is between 1 and 100 pages. I'll bet the average, however, is about 20-30 pages. Don't let the length dictate your chapter. Let the story dictate how long the chapter is.

Not a single word longer than you need to resolve a scene. Current trend in popular fiction is to have shorter chapters. It encourages the reader to keep reading "just one more chapter" before putting the book down.

Who knows, it's up to you.

I've seen books with chapters that are only a page long and others where they're fifty or more.

that really depends on the book. if, in your book, a situation ends or is resolved, then i think the chapter should end.
