It was the great general George Washington that was our first president. Please, please, for the love of God go read a history book.

Edit: I stand corrected. John Hanson was the first President of the United States under the Articles of Confederation.

party?"

Hard to tell, since he really didn't spend a lot of
time speaking his platform. He stood up and they
elected him with virtually no competition.

That being said, he claimed to be a "Federalist",
a party which no longer exists.
