No,it's supposed to be just for experience but if your employer is very happy with you, there is nothing wrong with them showing their gratitude..They will also give you a reference, which will stand you in good stead for the future...

Simple Answer: No
BUT depending on where you work, your Employer may give you something as a small thank-you. When I did mine, I got a £20 woolies voucher.
In another placement I did, I got paid for my travelling expenses, I think it was about £20 or £40 a week (honestly, that came to more than my travel costs put together)
Anyhow, some experience is better than no experience at all.

No, they are doing you the favour by giving you a placement so you can't expect to get rewarded. However, if you make a good impression and work hard they may give you a small amount to thank you, or even offer you a job. I did 2 weeks at nurserys, one week I got nothingm the other I got a £15 voucher. It depends on the nature of the work; for example in HMV they may give you a voucher of let you buy something at a discount.

No, but sometimes (nice) employers give you a little send-off (even though they are not really allowed). A guy in my class got £100 from work experience when I was in Yr 10.

It depends really on what job you are thinking about taking. probably if it was a job where everyone was getting paid Cash in Hand, but probably otherwise, no. It may also depend on how do you do that certain job. do it well and you get paid, do it bad and you dont.

No but sometimes the place you're working at will have a whip round and pay you something anyway off the books.

Unfortunately not, I got some bubble bath though.... you could always try hinting about how hard up you are at every given opportunity! Good luck!
