Bravo! for making the first step to becomming a better woman! If you really believe you have the will power and can deal with this issue that's fine. You will not succeed unless you humble yourself. Your anger tells others that you feel you are in control. Recognize that you are not in control of anyone except for you. Others do not deserve to experience your lack of patience or abuse, remember this.
You have to look inside yourself to find where your anger stems from (mine came from verbal physical abuse from my angry father). Once you can identify where it comes from you can better have an idea of how to change it. You have to find your center and I would suggest meditation or prayer. Your answers lie within you and when you really learn tolerance, compassion, understanding and love you will shine!
The you have to work on your communication. Research proper ways to communicate without yelling or degrading others. Remember just raising your voice is disrespectful and will only get you disrespect. Good luck!

Do yourself a favor and ignore some of the suggestions about looking into the Bible to deal with this problem. While spirituality can be an excellent resource to help us cope with life, it is unlikely that your situation will be resolved by simply looking into the Word.
Make an appointment with your primary care physician, or ask for a referral to a psychiatrist. While you did not specifically address the nature of your "anger problems," anger outbursts, and other explosive episodes can be signs of a more significant problem.
There are also anger management classes, or other forms of counseling available. But I would encourage you to make an appointment with your doctor first.
Use religion, if it helps you-- but remember, also, to use mental health professionals, such as psychiatrists, psychologists, and clinical social workers, who will be equipped to help you with this problem.

I agree with Matt. Check in the bible where it mentions things about anger, and you'll find some answers there. I also had your problem, my whole life actually, till I got some Bible teachings on the subject.
Here's a few...
Psalm 37:8
Refrain from anger and turn from wrath; do not fret—it leads only to evil.
Psalm 86:15
But you, O Lord, are a compassionate and gracious God, slow to anger, abounding in love and faithfulness. ( you can learn a lot about controlling anger when you learn about God and who He is)
ALSO here is an EXCELLENT page that will explain some things for you, give you a little understanding of anger and stuff.

Firstly you have to realise and accept the fact that anger is a self defence mechanism. You are defending yourself from further hurt by sending out signals, 'dont come near me, I am angry'. The same way a dog does when it growls. Find the cause of your hurt and pain, deal with it and then only can you truly start to live again. Good luck and lots of love.

Don't know what kind of benefits your job (if any) offers, but they might have psychological services -- Kaiser, for example, does.
What you're looking for is "Anger Management" -- that is, how to deal with your anger productively.
Or check the phone book or other resources for that phrase.
There are programs that really help people with this.

The community health clinic in your area may hold anger management groups or may be able to refer you to an appropriate centre, other suggestions might be Anglicare or a Womens Health Centre.

Every time you start to get angry. Ask yourself if it's going to help the situation in any way. Ask yourself if it will help you to get what you want.
99% of the time the answer will be no. As long as you think about what you're going to do and how it will help you, you should be able to take steps in the right direction.
