What are ya'lls opinions about rap and country music? I definately like country more than rap and I don't get why everybody loves rap so much. It has a bad meaning and its teaching the world to become trashy. You know? So whats the big deal about it?

Take it from some of the comments on here. Some people hate country because they've never bothered to listen to it. Most country haters are ignorant. Take it directly from these song lyrics by one of the best singers in country music:
I met a guy on the redeye
He spotted my guitar and said "What do you do?"
I said "I sing for a living
Country music mixed with a little rock and a little blues."
He said "I'm sorry but I've never been crazy 'bout the twang and trains and hillbilly thing.
Whatever made you wanna sing stuff like that?"
I just looked at him and laughed and said
"'Cause they're songs about me
And who I am
Songs about lovin' and livin'
And good hearted women
And family and God."
(And by the end of the song, the guy on the plane went to the singer's concert and couldn't believe how wrong he was in his impression of what country music was all about. It's not all about hicks and drinking beer and depression.)
Rap music is single-handedly responsible for the demented state of America's younger generation. It doesn't just condone materialism, violence or promiscuity, it promotes that stuff. (Read the lyrics to 50 cent's "Candy Shop" someday. 20 years ago, no parent in America would ever consider allowing their child listen to a song like that. Today 12 year olds are singing along to it.) Why are educational test scores down, juvenile delinquencies up, teenage pregnancy up, and worship house attendance by under-20's down? It's not country music causing this, it's rap!

I see rap as nothing more than fake music set to repetitive beats. All it is about is degrading races and genders, promoting violence and promiscuity, and the illegal use of harmful substances. I think rap only sells well to the immature and ignorant audience of america, who don't tend to notice or even realize exactly what these so called "artists" are about. So, in the end, rap is garbage. Country I don't mind so much, it just depends on the twang levels.
So, there you have it...I need o take a deep breath.

Oh come on!!! Like there aren't trashy images in all music, country's not exactly squeaky clean. Chicks in their short shorts bending over or some hick half tore talking about his wife leaving him, yeah prolly cuz you're a lush!! The real question why do ppl continue to compare completely different sides of the spectrum? Why can't ppl just accept that everyone has their own opinions and preferencs and just accept that. That's why prejudice sitll exsists. I personally hate country music but if you didn't ask this question you wouldn't know that cuz I know there are ppl out there that like it, I may understand why but I do understand that they have their preferences. It's a lil something I like to call respect for others.

I personally think that rap isn't great music at all. It's just a bunchy of bozoes singing to an offbeat and they're completely off pitch. I like Country Music by Dixie Chicks, Carrie Underwood, and The Wreckers, however, other country music ins't my thing I like hip hop, kiss FM, etc. I wish you luck trying to find a good answer!

You can't really make that assumption about ALL rap music. There are trashy country songs too. Personally, I think country music is boring.

Country is some of the best music being written today.
Rap is not music. It is the degradation of the black people. Rap tells everyone that blacks are cop killers, racists, murderers, rapists, illiterate, etc... And we know that isn't true. Blacks should never allow themselves to be belittled in such a degrading way.

I prefer country music.
I would much rather hear about a guy loosing his wife to his best friend than.......well I really don't know what they are saying in the rap songs.

I don't like rap at all because i just don't listen to it.I perfer country of any other genre any day.I don't know what the big deal is about rap because like i said i've never really listened to it.

cant really compare the two,they are totally different. I like rap,because of the beat,Love to dance to it,its so upbeat. Country I dont really care for,but thats just me,my likes and dislike's,and because I dont like country doesnt mean its crap,it just means I dont like it...

Rap is better. Even if you don't like what they sing about, the music is often good dance music! Country... um... I just don't like it.
