I am not employed by Yahoo!, but here is what I have figured out so far:
Someone reports you.
Customer Care reviews the report.
If it is a valid violation, they send you the Violation notice and your points are reduced. Otherwise, you don't even know it has happened. Customer Care removes either your answer or the question with all its answers.
You can challenge the Violation, but you need to consider the time spent on this effort.
You should also take a few minutes to review the Yahoo!Answers Community Guidelines, Yahoo! Terms of Service, and any other policies such as Anti-Spam, Copyrights, etc. The policies may have changed, so you need to review every now and again.
And in closing, be sure not to repeat the same mistakes !!!!

You might get a violation notice. You might not. It depends on how many times you were reported for what you asked or what you post. Sometimes too YA is a bit slow about handing out violations as well....So you have to watch out for that.

Actually, they tape your eyes open and make you watch old MASH episodes followed by X-Men 3, Hulk the Movie, then give you a bad hair cut and drain you of color. Just look what they did to me.

Ive never been reported. But i know someone that has. She sed that they deduct 10 points even tho you only get two points per question you answer. and if your question or answer is really bad, they delete your profile.

I was thinking the same thing. I really don't think they could do anything, except maybe not let us on YA anymore.

They give you a YA "Timeout," but don't worry too much because like everything else on YA, no one follows up on it.
