Okay, I only weighed 118 lbs when I got pregnant, so I was super scared of stretch marks. I got Palmer's Cocoa Butter for Stretch marks and rubbed it on everyday as soon as my skin started to stretch- actually, my husband did all the lotioning, and it was very nice for the both of us, because once you get to the end of your pregnancy, you're not going to want to do much more of anything intimate! Just rub it on twice a day and any time you start to feel itchy. If you don't have it on hand DO NOT SCRATCH! Just lightly rub where you're itching. I now have just a few small stretch marks on my hips and some on my breasts (that's actually where mine were worst!). Good luck!

the truth..... you can not prevent them! Some women luck up and do not get any, but the bigger your body gets the more it has to stretch leaving those awful marks. When i was pregnant with my first child i used cocoa butter on my entire body every day, by my 6 month i had stretch marks all over my breast and butt because they both double maybe even tripled in size. My belly got so big and i thought i was home free by my 8th month with no stretch marks but two weeks before i delivered they started showing their ugly little heads. The truth is that the only control that you may have over stretch marks is to not gain an excessive amount of weight and you still may get them on your belly and any other place that you grow. I was a little petite girl before my son and my skin had to stretch and so does yours. It is a battle scar of being a mother so just accept it and be thankful they fade.

There is a product on the market called "Stretch Mark" that can be used to help keep them to a minimum. And coco butter is good too. Any lotion to help keep the skin supple. They do fade a bit with time. But, unfortunately you might have some forever.

There are a lot of products out there that I have heard of, and a lot of mums I know have tried them... From what I've heard, none of them are all that efficient!
I have a few mild stretch marks, nothing serious, considering I went from not much more than a size zero to a size 18 with my first!! (I was 17 and very petite).
My mum is an aromatherapist, and with both my pregnancies I have used olive oil mixed with a few drops of mandarin essential oil, it really works, and it keeps down the itching! Mandarin oil is one essential oil which does NOT harm you or baby in any way. I always prefer to use the natural remedies before the pharmaceuticals!
Hope I helped!!

Stretch marks are herediary. You'll get them if you are meant to get them.
You can lessen the look of them by using lotions that have stuff in them to keep your skin elastic, but you can't prevent them.
If you mother had them, there is a good chance you will.

There is no proven way to prevent stretchmarks. I tried everything and still got them. With my second pregnancy, I did discover that using a thick lotion like Nivea body creme (in the white tub) did keep my skin nice and soft and the stretchmarks I all ready had didn't get any worse. So I would go with a nice thick lotion and make sure to put it on at least once a day, preferably as soon as you get out of the shower and dry off. Your skin is moist then and soaks in the lotion better. And even if it doesn't work, you might be surprised to find that you don't care about the stretchmarks like you thought you would. To me, it's like a battle wound or something. I'm proud of them. Anyway.... Good luck and congrats!!

I don't think you can prevent stretchmarks. You get them due to a genetic dispostion...however, I have NO stretch marks on my belly (30 weeks and I'm huge!) and I have put lotion on my belly every single day (since before I was pregnant...my skin is always itchy and dry). My favorite is any lotion from Bath and Body Works because it is very heavy and really soaks in...I tried the vaseline intensive care, etc and it just seemed watery and I didn't feel it worked as wel..
I'm not sure if the lotion has helped...but I haven't gotten a single one on my belly! (Of course, I have gotten them on my butt cheeks and boobs...go figure)

When I was pregnant, I asked my doctor what I would use,
and he told me not use anything! He said that the lotions
and creams that are supposed to prevent them, actually
make them appear! So, I would just like take super caution
as to what I would use, because I used the Palmer's Cocoa
Butter, and I got stretch marks twice as worse than both of
my sisters! So, if it was me, I wouldnt use anything! I mean
they are going to appear no matter what you use anyways.
Sorry! :(

I'm afraid stretch marks are genetic and not a lot can be done to prevent them, once they appear, try cocoa butter to help them fade.

I use Palmer's Cocoa Butter but as some people may tell you, genetics may determine whether or not you will get them. If that's true, then I won't get them cuz my mom didn't. I don't believe that Palmer's would make them worse.
