Hardwood because you don't have to clean any grout every few months. My house is made up of both, and it's the same thing to mop both floors for me. I use the bissell flip it which vacuums, mops, and then sucks up the water so it dries really quick with no streaks.
It comes with wood floor and hard floor cleaner. The only difference is having to do the grout, which I hate doing, but love when it's done and looks brand new.
You have to worry more about hardwood though. Huge water spills can warp the floors, tiles won't do that.

I prefer hardwood. There are so many fabulous cleaners and swiffer-type products around that make it a breeze to maintain. We have kids and pets and it's by far my favorite flooring to care for. It looks very pretty, too. I have no experience at all with the Pergo-type laminate flooring, but our hardwoods are great.
Tile is okay. I loved it at first. That darn grout between the tiles is IMPOSSIBLE to keep clean! We have big ceramic tiles in our foyer, kitchen and bathrooms. I hate it with a passion.
My vote is for hardwoods. I almost forgot, if you drop something heavy on tile it'll break, hardwood doesn't break, chip or require grout!

They both have their pros and cons. Hardwood floors clean easily, but you do have to be careful how much water gets on the floor, so if you get something really dirty on the floor, it takes a little more work to clean it. You have to be careful to get anything spilled on the hardwood floors up right away. You have to be a little careful about streaks on the hardwood floors as you want them to look nice. I have gone over mine with windex.
Tile cleans up easily, but there are sometimes high and low places on tile.
It will depend too on how much traffic there is in your house; and what type of traffic.
I lived alone with a little dog. My hardwood was easy to take care of. I live in Alaska and the dog would, of course, come in from outside with snow on her feet.
My mother (who when she got older and sick, couldn't take care of her housework) had tile. Her grandkids were in and out and some of her kids (not me) did not take off their shoes. Her tile was very easy for me to clean up and have it look nice right away.
I would decide what you like the looks of the best and go for it. You will have to live with it a long time (or at least I do because of the price) and you might as well have what you like.
Good luck in whatever you choose.

They each have their pros and cons. If the hardwood is sealed well, it's probably easier because you have no grout lines. You do have to make sure you don't get the floor too wet, though....especially in winter because the wood shrinks and creates gaps between the boards....or you'll end up with a warped floor.
On the other hand, as long as the grout is sealed well, it's both durable and waterproof. You can get as much water on it as you want and it won't be damaged.

I think tile is easier and stays cleaner longer and doesnt show dust or animal hair. No matter which you purchase I would buy a microfiber mop to clean the flooring. You can use it on wood flooring because the mop is barely damp and uses just water, yet picks up dirt easily. My floors have never been cleaner. You can purchase the microfiber mop on QVC.com just type in microfiber mop or call 800-345-1515.

i would have to say tile. it is a lot easier to care for. with wood you have to if you dont have a finish on it the hardwood could swell and more damage would happen.
