There may be a chromosomal abnormaity that you both carry and that's why you continue to miscarry. However it's too early to tell with just the 2 miscarriages, I know that must have been hard for you, but there's a 25% chance of miscarriage, and most of the time it's because of chromosomal abnormalities, so it's not all that uncommon. You can have genetic test run on both of you too see if you are carriers for anything, however I think it's a little too early for concern.
*The person who said that it has to do with your blood type is completly wrong. Just like with chromosomes you get your blood type from your parents. For example I have a mom with o- blood, and a dad with AB+. My blood type is B+ and my brother's is A-. It has nothing to do with miscarriage at all. That would be like saying that having parents with different hair colors affects your pregnancy.

Typically, no. Your genetics may have a problem to where a fetus or embryo may not develop properly but as long as you are both human, the DNA should be compatible to create a zygote.
What is incompatible is usually a genetic disorder that you may not even know you or your partner is a carrier for. Your body, during pregnancy, is very smart. It's not going to carry something that will put it into danger (usually). Therefore, if it senses the disorder or anomaly or if the embryo/fetus displays the disorder early on, you will typically miscarry.
Have you both done genetic testing and counseling? That would be the best suggestion if you really want to have a child together. If it is a disorder, you may have to create embryo's in a lab setting to try and conceive one without the disorder and then go through ivf to implant it.
Best of luck to you!

Melissa's answer is right. If you do try and have more miscarriages (heaven forbid), you do still have options. You could do IVF, and before the embryos are returned to your body, the doctors could do Preimplantation Genetic Diagnosis. The would take a cell from each embryo and test them to see if there are any chromosomal abnormalities. Then, only a few of the normal embryos are returned to your body, decreasing you chance of miscarriage.
I also think your doctor is being a bit of an alarmist by saying you might have chromosomal issues this early on. Many women have a few miscarriages as a result of bad luck, basically, and you have a good chance of getting a healthy baby soon! Good luck.

I have heard that 2 people can have recessive genes that flar up when they produce a child together. And sometimes a miscarriage is nature's way of getting rid of a deformed baby. So maybe that is what he meant. I don't know though. Good Luck.
I had a miscarriage in Jan. and the Dr said they don't do any test until you've had at least 2 so maybe he/she could start doing test on you and your spouse, if he hasn't already.

having two miscarriages is not cause to be alarmed and it's a little premature for your doctor to be telling you that your DNA might not be compatible. I have heard of it before. sometimes people carry certain traits on their DNA that would make for certain birth defects in which the child would not survive, but i do not know what it is called. keep trying and don't lose hope. if need me, go to a high risk OB/GYN.

No, I have never heard of that. I'll be interested in hearing what others have to say -- maybe I will learn something new today.

I think its about the blood type not DNA. If one is type "A" and one is type "B" then pregnancy will be harder as the two type does not bond together. If this is the case, your baby should have the same blood type as you to have a successful pregnancy.
