their homework questions here? Do you answer them? If we answer for them, are we really helping them? Should we be "helping" them in this manner? Do you answer obvious homework questions? If I see a really difficult problem, I sometimes find myself answering them just because of the challenge for myself, but I probably shouldn't be answering them. What do you all do?

this question gets asked periodically. it's a love it or hate it category, and some adults who should know better actually seem to get a bit of a kick out of using it to insult the kids asking the questions.
Personally I'd rather they asked and got some help than have them not make any attempt at all, and we all know teachers and parents are not always readily available. it can seem pretty overwhelming to try and wade through something difficult with no-one to ask.
I answer when and where I can, if I feel I know the answer or can research it, and as long as I feel the asker has made their own attempts at trying to find the solutions.
I bypass all questions demanding essays to be written, or those that post thirty questions and expecting thirty perfect answers.
Sometimes all people need is a pointer in the right direction, and a few well researched links can often be enough. or just a paragraph to explain something.
There's nothing wrong with 'helping'. How many of those that complain about this category can honestly say they never ever asked a friend or a family member for the same type of help as is available on here.
The problem is when students really can't be bothered and do think all they need to do is offer 'ten points' to have an essay written

I don't because I probably wouldn't know the answer but I personally think that when I had trouble if I could just get on type in my question and get the answer then I wouldn't even try to learn it. You would probably be doing them a favor by not answering them. If these people are going to be successful in life then they need to figure things out on their own sometimes. I know you think that its only a question or two and they've got their whole life ahead of them yet but if they have this they will get used to it and when they get older they cant keep doing this and then they will be in for a waking! So i suggest do them a favor for later by not doing them a favor now! hope i helped!

I imagine that people are just asking those questions because they can't figure them out. I haven't answered alot of homework questions so forgive me if i'm wrong but they tend to be only two or three questions that they ask (I seriously doubt teachers are giving two or three questions for Math homework either) which leads me to assume that they can't figure out that particular problem or they want to check if they are doing the problems correctly.

It depends on how much they're asking for. Questions like "pair the word with the appropriate sentence..." that then go on to list the whole thing really kind of bother me, but yes, homework *help* I'll do, doing someone's homework for them- not so much.

I usually only answer the math questions, because I'm a total math freak, but I make sure to give all of the steps to how I got the answer. Otherwise, I usually just ignore the questions.

If they are asking just one thing they may be stuck with yes i will answer, but the ones that ask for the whole thing and the research no way.I think parents should be monitoring what their kids are doing on line, anyway if they have homework to do they shouldn't be on line.

I answer some of them...But I think the kids should do their own homework, If we answer all of them, we are doing their work for them.

Not really bothered except when someone actually ask the whole nine yards. Any other question I'm willing to answer.
