Breastmilk arrives AFTER birth. What comes before is colostrum or pre-milk. As for breast milk itself, it's a very sweet liquid. But it also depends on what the woman eats. You know that whole saying, "you are what you eat"? Well, that goes double for a nursing mother. The baby will get the flavors of what she eats- which is why they tell mom not to eat spicy food or chocolate, and even to cut back on cow's milk.

Ohh boy. That brings up memories.

My sis-in-law was nursing and my wife tricked me into drinking some of it (pumped earlier) in a glass with ice. Just so they could see my reaction.

It was sweet, and had an "off" taste from cows milk. It wasn't bad, but I was grossed-out when they told me what it was.

Thanks A LOT for bringing up that memory, LOL!

breast milk comes in after the baby is born. A pregnant woman's breasts should not be tempted to excrete anything because this could cause early labor.

Sweet.

I tasted it when my son was about a year old, some squirted up into my mouth by accident.

When I tasted it I actually remembered the flavor from when I was a baby. Remembering was a quite the experience.

When you get old enough to spell correctly, or at least smart enough not to say "pregy" on a board like this, then ask.
