I think they are thinking about it's fun and the reaction they get from it. They aren't thinking that the Internet is forever, meaning what goes on the Internet stays in the Internet. In the future it could come back to haunt them later on in life. They are just thinking of the hear and now, like all teenagers do.

the other day there was a girl on here at school asking how to get by the schools fire wall so she could go to her my space
