I bought a laptop which came with Windows Vista (and God do I f---in hate it). So, I tried installing XP on it; success! All is well; XP seems to be working flawlessly until I realize that I can't seem to install LAN drivers on XP; they don’t work. Apparently they’re only Vista; that's what the Toshiba website says; “OS: Vista,” that's it, no other OS is listed. What can I do, I really want XP. My computer is a Toshiba Satellite A135-S4467. Any help will be greatly appreciated; I'm willing to give 20 points to anyone who can resolve this for me. Though you'll have to tell me how to award the points manually, I don’t know how. Thanks

From the Toshiba website, identify the network card's specifications and try going directly to the vendors website for a driver. You might also be able to get enough information by going into the Computer Management Console and viewing the Device Manager and locating Network Adapters. Look for yours and see if it shows up there or maybe it will display as an unknown network device. You may be able to get to right click and say to update the driver automatically from the Microsoft site. Good luck.

OK, did a little more research. You have the Intel PRO/Wireless 3945ABG Network Connection. Intel (http://www.intel.com) has a download (multiple OS versions available) you can get right from their page or you can use this link directly to the download:

Toshiba probably didn't make your LAN card.

Look through the specs carefully, and you should be able to figure out what is actually in it. Go to the manufacturers site and download the XP driver for it.

Or go back to using Vista, I've was hesitant at first, but it has worked flawlessly for me.

First off, I would suggested not to buy anything with Windows Vista. Because they just released it, you have to know it is not going to be compadible with anything. It's going to take acouple years for them to make it work together. You should take your laptop back, and maybe ask the geeksquad for help.
