Basically, it functions in three ways 1) to prevent ovulation 2) to make the uterine lining thinner, so as not to allow a fertilized egg to implant 3) to create a mucus plug to slow the flow of sperm.
Which of these it actually does and how well it works depends on the type that you are taking, the amount of estrogen, and your dosage. More estrogen makes it more effective, but is also to blame for the negative effects that many women experience.

How it affects it? the pills contain hormones, which alter the hormone levels in your body. I have heard it explained that your body almost thinks its pregnant when you're on hormonal birth control... that's why you don't ovulate. I don't know if this helps.... don't really know what you're asking for. The best info you can get about how a given form of birth control works is by talking to your doctor or pharmacist about it.

Like the countless different posters, you would be able to easily no longer be donning sufficient physique fat to permit for a era. while you're heavily underweight, your physique won't allow you to threat a being pregnant---it fairly is familiar with you need to no longer help it. so which you lose your era. the biggest reason for loss of menstruation (5-10% of all women!) is polycystic ovarian syndrome, or PCOS. i grow to be those days clinically determined with it, and that i grow to be nevertheless having my era semi-frequently. i'm shocked your blood exams have grew to become up no longer something---yet you would be able to desire to maintain going back on your GYN till they resolve this, that's not conventional. ascertain you ask in the event that they have seen PCOS, Cushing's, or checked your fat point to be certain you weigh sufficient. do no longer permit your mom come to a decision for you---in case you have performed a school activity, you're sufficiently old to get this discovered on your guy or woman.
