I used to have a bad habit of countering every compliment with a hundred reasons why they are wrong....but I have learned to gracefully accept a compliment with a "Thank You" and work on my own self-esteem.

Both my twin sister and I get really embarrassed and have trouble taking compliments well, which is weird because we're so polite and good at giving them. Usually if someone compliments me I try to brush it off. Like one of the ladies at work told me I looked good, that it looked like I was loosing weight, and I just said, "Naw, I'm not doing anything." Turns out I *did* lose the weight.

I read somewhere you should always try to say "Why, thank you!" when someone compliments to. I do that when I remember but most of the time compliments fluster me.

When I was younger I would get embarassed......now, I am 48, and I relish compliments, I answer a compliment given by saying "thank you!" along with a great big smile for the person who gives me the compliment.

I tend to get embarassed. I am a person who, as a general rule, thinks that I will never be good enough. When someone gives me a compliment, I feel like they aren't seeing the real me and I am embarassed because I feel like I must have been pretending to be something else to make them give that compliment.

I sometimes get embarrassed...it really depends on who is giving the compliment. From my children, I love to be complimented....it makes me feel like they know just how much I love them....

From my parents, its like WHOA.....they actually think I'm a decent human being.....

From my b/f.....I get embarrassed easily....

From a stranger.........its weird!

Depends on the person doing the complimenting and what the compliment is.

I'm not good at it and that means something psychologically but I don't care enough to remember what!! When I get a compliment it flies right over my head and I can't retrieve it.
