again this year? You know, he supposedly broke his wrist during the winter while supposedly playing with his kids. It's quite troubling to hear that he has to yet to appear in a game this spring. Seems like an ominous sign to me.

I don't think so , there is word that Griffey is moving to right field and that might lessen the strain on his body & might prolong his career. if the do move him to RF they should keep him there.

The biggest reason is that he is getting old. Remember that he entered the league in 1988, so he has been around for almost 20 years. He has had a reputation for playing all out and his body can't take the hard hits agaisnt the outfield wall or the ground. I don't know why he keeps pulling muscles, but when a guy nearing 40 is giving 110% over the course of a 162 game season, he is bound to get hurt.

My prediction for the season...he plays 108 games and will hit about 25 homers.

it was a simple break. so no i don't think he will start on the DL. i say this because players like griff don't see spring training in all reality as a serious thing. lets face it when youre a star like he is-why go bother with spring training?

he's been doing this for the last 10 years-not showing up to play a full spring training-but then again maybe that's why he's ended up on the DL 6 out of the last 7 years.

I heard from the website that he might not be ready for opening day. I believe he's an asset to the team simply for the fact that when he's in the lineup he seems to make everyone better. I don't know the exact numbers, but when he was out of the lineup last year in September the Reds winning percentage shrunk, and they went limping into the offseason. They are above .500 usually when he's in there.

Griffey has a history of injuries and bouts that doesn't satsify anyone on the team or even the fans. He is definitely injury-prone to anything. He has to be more careful with everything now since he breaks/sprains/strain/pull anything on his body. Actually if he stayed healthy all his career, he would've been the best fielder/hitter/overall baseball player in history... he would've been up with Barry Bonds in the All-Time HR List.

Good luck to him

Besides that , it has been a long time since he has played a full season. Talk about a guy who's stock has fallen. When he was in Seattle I thought he may turn out to be the best or one of the best of all time. At this stage if he plays half a season it is almost considered a success.

Its a shame but it seems like, ever since he went to the Reds, hes had this dark cloud over him.I feel bad for him,but I think if he can recover from that injury,he could still go out and have a great year.im going to be pulling for the guy, since a healthy Griffey is good for baseball.

You get that feeling because the guy's always injured and he's not exactly getting any younger. He's a heckuva hitter, though. I say the Reds bench him against the Cubs. Why risk Griffey running into Wrigley's ivy-covered brick wall?

Griffey is getting old. And he's been hurt every year that he's been in Cincinnati. It's time to put that old pony out to pasture. He's just wasting the team's money at this point.

give him a chance. he was the comeback player of the year. does anyone remember him hitting like 30+ hr's last year? give him a break (no pun intended) He WOULD have been the best ever if he didnt get hurt, but while in Seattle, he never did. Hes going through a rough time, but im looking for a 30HR, 100RBI season from the Griff
