a question the over day asked will my hair go lighter or darker in the sun, i thought well of course it will go lighter, but then some1 anwsered " yeh my hair goes darker"............... is this possible?

i have never heard of anyone's hair getting darker in the sun. Look at the people who spend their time at the pool or on the beach...they always have lighter hair, or at least it looks that way. Maybe the chlorine in the pool is causing some of it.

The reason hair goes lighter in the sun is because the light oxidises it. It don't see by what mechanism it could go darker.
Isabella, this is NOT true: "some chemical the sun gives to the hair that produces it to come out darker"

properly it could have a definate reddish brown or auburn forged to it. yet once you nonetheless use it it gets blonder. you do no longer use sunlight-in throughout your hair to alter the colour - that's specifically for highlights. i've got been employing sunlight-In for 30 years. i think of that's an amazing product for highlighting sections or areas of your hair. it works very o.k.. i might go forward whether you have brown hair - only put in on chosen strands so it sounds as though as copper or auburn highlights. this is going to look great. ORANGE isn't probably the colour it turns.

some people will say the opposite of what is true or "the norm" just to be different--I don't think hair will get darker in the sun and would pay no atention to this person's remarks.

Yes its possible but ususally, hair goes lighter in the sun. But it could happen. Mines goes lighter in the sun tho

lighter only like when you leave a shirt out in the sun too long the colors fade just like your hair

I have dark brown hair and it even gets lighter in the sun.
Whoever told you that was having a dumb moment.

I doubt it- everything fades from too much light- I cannot see how the hair would get darker…
