Hmmm. Must be a southern cali thing then. We certainly don't use that word in northern California. At least they could capitalize it...

have to agree with you...i live in Napa in the north bay of SF and I never call California Cali. Except maybe on rare occasion and I am too lazy to type it all out. But am more to abbreviated it CA like the postal code.
Also, please to do not refer to san francisco as San Fran, Frisco, etc. It is either SF, San Francisco or The City. I hate when people call it Frisco.

For those of us who live here in "Cali" it is an accepted slang or common way to say California.
Most of the time, it is just easier to type it in the shortened version. I have never heard any one from Nevada say Navi, but I guess you could try to start a trend!

I live in Vegas and constantly hear people refer to California as Cali. ::shrugs::

I have family in cA and at times they say and write cali. Its just short I guess just like Jersey is used instead of New Jersey......

It is just shorter than spelling it out they also could say CA or NV or PA. I don't think it was anything personal.
