In this game you can turn off the gore. As far as the cussing an drug references, if your kid goes to public school he hears worse everyday.

Well I have a 13 year old son too, and trust me we all get a little worried about the content, violence, etc. But what I would suggest is give it to him, and see how he does. If you think he should wait a bit maybe give it to him when he is a bit older. But if you think he is fine with it, then thats probably a good thing for your son! lol I hope this helped.

I personally do not think that it is appropriate for a boy of that age. There is a lot of violence and blood. I'm sure you can find video clips of the game on my site VideoCarnage.com. Just search for Gears of War. Take a look at those, they might help you make a decision.

on the criminal / ethical experience... The Gears of conflict series is rated Mature, meaning that would desire to be 17 or older to play it. With that mentioned, there are techniques (which you will in all probability in no way use, understanding the teenage gamer's thirst for blood, gore & violence) to disable the blood, gore & surprisingly violent / offensive content cloth to unofficially drop the score right down to teen (13+). Please observe that your mothers and dads might have enabled parental controls on your console, which will directly preclude you from taking part in the interest if it is larger than the permitted score set there. on the adulthood area, it quite is demanding to assert because of the fact it is as much as you & your mothers and dads to choose how plenty "Mature content cloth" you're allowed to journey. as long as you're in charge (noticeably ON XBOX stay... don't be trashtalking troll that seems to be like the undemanding XBLA journey... you're actually not assisting THE GAMING community extra often than no longer WITH THAT habit!), you ought to be okay to play the interest, or a minimum of with many of the fabric disabled. wish this facilitates!

im 14 and i have it. there really is a lot of blood and stuff, but theres an option in the options menu that turns off all swearing. If he has Xbox live you should definately get it for him. Also on an HD tv it has the best graphics iv ever seen. Even though its pretty violent, u should still get it for him because it really is, in my opinion the best video game that has ever been made. period.

i play this game alll the time... there are plenty of reasons why you should not buy this game for your son. first of all, the object of the game is to blow bloody monster in a million pieces and then cussing in relieve about it. everywhere you turn, someone is exploding... second of all. there are a lot of disturbing ppl on that game. i had some drunk man cuss, insult, and belittle me the whole game. some people talk about drugs the whole game. definately not a good environment for your son. =(

my fiance plays this game all day everyday and i know it very well. there are a lot of 12yo kids and upwards in age that play with him. the only bad things are that it obviously has killing of monsters and there is soem bad language but not too much. if he plays online, which is with other people across the world, then everyone is really nice. it all depends on you

I'd sit him down, put my arm around him, and tell him, "That game's rated "M" for mature for a reason, ya know!"
