As many of you know, I'm a die hard Mets fan. I gotta say, I'm a bit worried. I still love the lineup, and I still think the bullpen is good. Do you guys think John Maine, Oliver Perez and Mike Pelfrey, if not (Jason Vargas, Jorge Sosa, Philip Humber, Chan Ho Park, Aaron Sele) can carry the Mets to another division title? I have all the confidence that the Mets can repeat as NL East and even NLand World Series champs, but what do you think?

Getting whipped by the Dodgers, thats funny, considering the Dodgers get two guys thrown out at the plate on one play. Remember that one?

As a fellow die hard Mets fan, i believe that our young pitching can take us to another division championship, and maybe even an NL championship. There are some conditions though..If John Maine can prove he can throw more than 5 innings, and if our hitting can back up that pitching if it fails. Last year it seemed that when our pitching was hot, so was our hitting, and when our pitching went into a slump, so did our hitters. But with David Wright and Jose Reyes, I can't possibly choose against them. The only team who may give us a hard time is the phillies. As for the Braves, in my opinion they are a bunch of "if"'s. If Andruw Jones can repeat his performance from last year. If Jeff Francoeur doesnt strike out 120 times. If Chipper Jones can continue to produce, and if their rotation can hold up. With all those "maybe"s i dont think the Braves will be a problem

TOm Glavine is a Year older and he has a bad tendency to either have a bad first half or bad second half... Pedro is older ABD recovering from surgery, so in all fairness , he is a crap shoot, but either way you might be in too deep a hole by time he is ready to pitch this year, and thats assuming he comes back pitching well, because he was well hit often last year.... Oliver Perez you can NOT trust, i mean, good stuff, but who knows, lots of mediocre guys have good to great stuff.... Theres a Reason Jorge Sosa has bounced around like he has, great stuff, but he has alot of dog in him...Chan Ho Park is Chan Ho Park, Enough said there.... Aaron Sele was good for about 5 years, unfortunately those 5 years were like 6 years ago.... Pelfrey and Maine i dont know about, noone does, I like Maine a great deal, but Pelfrey no IDEA, and Humber, well, AAA is not MLB.... so in closing, for a team that thinks its winning a division and a sure bet for the playoffs and a shot at the WS, the mets may have the second weakest Starting pitching in the National League, its REALLY bad.

The Mets real competition in the division will be the Phillies. With the Braves having problems with Hampton already and an unreliable Tim Hudson I don't think their upgraded bullpen is going to help them. The Phillies on paper have the best starting staff in the division maybe even the national league. However, the Mets really aren't far behind. Glavine adding his curveball to his reportaire has made him more difficult and this is evidenced by his last year and half. You have Maine who now has one year under his belt with a good team that he knows he doesn't have to be perfect to win. Oliver Peres can go either way. I think have El Duque, Glavine and Pedro's presence will help mature him so he doesn't have the same number of blowup type innings. The offense the Mets have is much better than any of the teams in the national league so they have the best shot. If their pitching matures then they have a good shot at going far in the playoffs.

I think that the only way the Mets take the division is if they can average about 6 runs of offense a game. They will have a horrible team ERA because they really don't have any great starters. I'd be a little more optimistic if Pedro were healthy and Glavine were a bit younger, but as for now I would be scared.

Definetly they got it, the only team I would really worry about in their division is the Phillies. Injuries leave the biggest question mark in the NL East, otherwise the Mets have the most talent from top to bottom, and from the mound to the bullpen. The Braves aren't going to contend for a few more years, unless Bobby Cox is a wizard.

I'm sure they can have another playoff year. I'm a Mets fan sort of. If they play their cards right, they'll go all the way!

i think the Mets will finish in 3rd place behind Philly and Braves. Those players you mentioned are all middle of the road players with not much upside
