Think about it....

the 'societal normal average intelligence' people look at smart people like freaks...they're judged....and thought of as weird, and different...

the smart people seemed to be isolated and judged just as fast as the 'special ed' kids

smart people are looked just as lowly just because no one understands their higher intelligence...and they say that they don't know how to interact socially...but thats not always necessarily true. but the opposite stands true for the 'special ed' kids..

but one thing thats out of control is that gifted and special ed kids were born with high/low than average intelligence. it cannot be controlled. so why do people judge things that are out of our control?

so why are the norms so cruel?

why are people so cruel to those who are born with a higher brain capacity than others...especially when its not their fault that they're gifted....

like mozart ..he wasn't understood until many years later...centuries!? why!

I do think that the gifted children are treated differently just as the special ed children are. I can tell you why. It is immaturity combined with living by the "norms". I am not "gifted" by any means, but I was the type of child who enjoyed reading books(not mysteries and novels, but geography books and encyclopedias) and I soaked up so much knowledge from it that I knew things about the world that even some of the teachers didn't know much about. I received favor(and praise) from my teachers, and many of the students looked down on me for being the kid who would raise his hand in class and knew facts that they either didn't know or care about. One reason was immaturity. Gifted children are often made fun of because many of the "non-gifted" children aren't mature enough to keep their comments and cruelty to themselves. Another reason is that it differs from what some children see as the "norm". Many of the children see the gifted ones as odd because they can only see from their perspective and not from the perspective of the gifted children. I was viewed as odd by some of the children because I read encyclopedias and geography books for fun. I can relate and the fact is that as long as there are immature people in the world who look down on "intelligentsia", there will always be hatred against those who are gifted.

the norms fear what they do not understand. However this isn't always the case. In high school me being the "freak" i was, Became socially accepted due to my honest and sincere nature. My music addiction tended to freak people out sometimes, but overall and for the most part i was accepted. I know this is uncommon, but i stand firm on the norms fear what they do not understand. Most of them are not willing to accept difference, When things are "out of place" to norms they tend to withdraw from it. You see what makes them norm is unwillingness to be open minded and accept things as they come. All things must be a certain way for them. Their logic and rationalizations are set in stone. Envy isn't always the case. Stupidity and lack of common sense do well in this area.

Are you asking why people treat other people badly because of the other person's higher intelligence? If the person is so smart, they should surely be able to figure out why a person who isn't treats them a certain way. Just like really pretty girls know that if an ugly girl is treating her badly, it is because of jealousy. Super smart people aren't always very nice anyway, so why should people treat them any better than anyone else. Also, smart people can act as smart or as stupid as they choose, if they fear being treated differently. People who aren't so smart don't have that luxury. Therefore, smart people cannot complain about being treated differently. If you don't like it, quit acting so smart and taking gifted classes. You could even test really poorly, or just average, and stop pondering other people. There is always going to be something you can point the finger of blame at in our society, but why care what other people think of your intelligence?
