he stated that he wants to be a Yankee for the rest of his career and excercised the option in his contract(right now) to stay a Yankee.

Also, does anyone know, how many more years will he be under contract if he excercises this option? Or is this an option that he has after the end of every season left in the contract?

Arod signed a 8 yr contract in 2004,If he stayed for the 8 yrs he would have made 250 mil,Now he has an out clause after his 4th yr,and yes, every yr, after that, Jd drew also had the same contract that Arod had,,I just read it in Todays Daily News,,,, :) Now,,it was also reported in todays paper,That even when arod says he wants to remain a yankee,it is with the understanding that he will still exercise that option so the yankees can bestow even more riches upon him in the form of an eight-year extension and another $160 million-170
million. Otherwise,he won't remain a Yankee forever,What this is,is the initial Arod/Boras push for a contract extension,, All of this was reported in todays daily News!! Now i'm wondering,If Arod does have an MVP season? If we win it all,
Will the Yankees resign him? And pay him all that money?

The only way Yankees fans would start treating A-fraud better is if he started hitting in the clutch and stopped making so many errors. Also, if he had an 8 or 10 million dollar a year contract intead of a 25 million dollar a year contract, they would treat him better. I am not a Yankees fan, but I think the fans just don't think that he is playing good enough to merit that kind of contract. Plus he is a cry baby too.

You have to remember that Yankees fans booed Roger Maris regularly. They obviously don't have any class, so why would they give A-Rod a break? Only Yankees fans would run off a guy who hits .300, drives in 130 runs and hits 45 homers a year. I would love to see him go to Boston and abuse the Yankees every season.

Incidentally, it's not Arod's fault the owner of the Rangers was stupid enough to bid against himself. I mean, who's is the real idiot, the guy who asks for $25 million a year for 10 years or the guy who pays it? Arod is a Yankee regardless of what anyone says because he's not going to give up the last three years of his contract and go free agent and no one is going to trade for him and that big contract.

He needs to go..he can't handle NY. ARod chokes too much on both sides of the feild. I'm not discounting his abilities but I feel he will continue to succeed as he did before coming to the Yankees if he is in a smaller market team. He's being selfish by staying with NYY. I hope he doesn't think he's going into the HOF as a Yankee..he's done much more contributing between Seattle and Texas.

Ok coming from a true yankee fan and a new yorker a-rod needs to shut his mouth. We're (Yankee fans) sick of him talking about his contract and then striking out when bases are loaded and there are 2 outs, hes supposed to be mr. cluth but when the bases are loaded he clouldn't hit a 30 mph pitch.

He's defenitely going to opt out of his contract at the end of the year, I dont care what he says.

And Yankees fans arent gonna treat him better until he starts hitting in the post season.

Well, for one I know he doesn't want to come back to New York next season. So, you don't have to worry about how many years he has left. But, I have a feeling that the Red Sox will jump on the opportunity of getting him if its for sure he won't be returning to the Yanks.

Arod puts his foot in his mouth more than any human being ive ever seen. And in all honesty, i think whats at the heart of why Arod isnt loved here is fact that for ALOT of years, we heard how much BETTER than Derek Jeter and pretty much any player in MLB Arod was, Best all around This, best Overall That... and then he gets here and does great things in the Regular season, hell, even his off regular seasons like last year are great, but then we get to the time when in NY we look to our players to shine, and he does nothing. And The guy he was supposed to be SO much better than, playing next to him, continues to do what he always does, play and hit well when it matters most.... and i think alot of the reason why he is not loved here is that.. People have alot of resentment for him being compared to Jeter. I think it's stupid, because if we win, he needs to hit, but i think at the heart of it, thats why people boo him.. because he is not Jeter. Now he has ONE great post season and carries us to a WS and all that will change.
