I never had them with my first baby, however, I've been getting them over the past couple of weeks with my currect pregnancy.

My labor with my first was long, hard, and terrible. I'm wondering if these "practice" contractions will make the real thing a little easier than it was the last time.

Also, when I get them, I start getting anxiety, too (you know, shortness of breath, nauseas, and rapid heartbeat... No... I'm not scared of labor. lol). Is this normal, as well?

Second children usually come easier and faster. However, if you want a really amazing info and help resource, contact a mid-wife. They can help you a LOT with all these questions, your anxiety and practical advice about how to have an easier delivery.

They can also attend the birth at the hospital of your choosing.

Check it out, you'll be glad you did.

Braxton hicks don't necessarily mean an easier delivery, but the shortness of breath nausea and tachycardia is normal. The added pressure on your already full tummy is what's causing all of these symptoms. However, do check with your doc, at this late stage, any questions and concerns should be known. Having a true professional advise you will help you to relax and enjoy your second childs arrival, rather than dreading the experience.

GL and CONGRATS :D

I never had them with my first pregnancy either; however, my labor was not that bad. With my second pregnancy, I had them BIG TIME; yet, my labor was even shorter and easier. I don't think they have anything to do with how your labor will go. I do know this: everyone I've talked to that's had 2 or more children have all said that after the first child, labor comes faster and is much easier. That may not be true with everyone, but it's true for the majority. And as far as the anxiety, nausea, shortness of breath, and rapid heartbeat--TOTALLY normal. Just try to lie down and relax. Good luck and congrats!

No everyone has them it is just natures way of preparing you for birth. Don't be so scared of labor because when you go into labor and you tense up it will make it longer, all of us had fear of labor but not to extremes, try to remember when they get real bad that good old epidural will help, I didn't get that far because they did a c-section but when they gave me the spinal the pain went away, not the anxiety but when it is all over you have that beautiful baby to hold and you forget about the pain,

Braxton hicks are considered false labor. They do not cause the cervix to contract or start to dilate. Braxton hicks are also usually felt from the belly button up. If you are having pains below the belly button you should let your doctor know. Finally, Braxton hicks are usually just the belly and the uterus expanding.

Braxton Hicks contractions are fake labor pains thats all. Yes I know about anxiety, I have that disorder. Try taking deep breaths slowly, and tighten and release your muscles. It does not matter where. Arms, legs, it teachs your body how to relax. trust me!

Second births tend to be easier than firsts. Mine was so much easier I didn't need anything for the pain.

the reason your first birth too a while is b/c it was your first...it has nothing to do with braxton hicks. no, it doesn't make it easier

Not necessarily. Look, the more you calm yourself the easier your labor will be. You could perhaps take some meditation classes or yoga.
