im a cancer and my dad is a gemini ...... i know what you mean lol
i think your relationship will develop more as she gets older
No matter how you feel about it, you will always be your mother's child -- or your child's mother. This relationship -- fraught with emotion, expectation, joy and unconditional love -- is one of the most fundamental and complex of all human relationships. One step toward understanding one another is to realize and appreciate your differences.
Gemini and Cancer
When a Gemini child is born to a Cancer parent, both relatives may wonder if they are really related. Gemini sees life through intellectual and logical lenses. Conversely, Cancer is sensitive and emotional; thus feelings are the guiding force for the parent. Gemini is an entertaining addition to Cancer's life, and the Crab can't imagine living without their child.
While Gemini is the thinker, Cancer is the Sign of home and hearth. Cancer offers their child a foundation in people skills and teaches them how to read a face, rather than just an encyclopaedia. Cancer can teach Gemini how to slow down and appreciate the workings of the world around them.
Troubles may arise if Cancer feels unappreciated or ignored by Gemini. Both Signs must understand that although they come from entirely different directions, it is possible for them to meet happily in the middle. Opposition may arise because of their different priorities and varying methods of approaching the world, but they both know how much they need and cherish one another.
The best aspect of the Gemini-Cancer family relationship is that -- once they realize they're allies -- they can soar to great heights together. Gemini is thinking ahead, and Cancer is quietly supporting these ideas behind the scenes. This family's ability to provide what the other is lacking makes this a complimentary family unit.

"That outgoing, young lady in the middle of the room? She's bound to be a Gemini! She is smart and quick-witted. This social butterfly loves having lots and lots of friends. Be prepared for the phone line to be perpetually busy. She's adept at talking on the phone while sending e-mail, and each piece of communication will be delightful and dazzling. Chat rooms were made for her! The Twin girl needs a slew of hobbies and interests to keep her rapid-fire mind occupied, which is why she dabbles in everything from aerobics to Zen. As much as she loves to talk (and she's always got the scoop on everything), she is also on top of her studies. She can manage to pull straight A's without even trying! Well, sort of - networking with the teacher might have something to do with her success. She'll enjoy engaging in sports such as swimming (Gemini rules the shoulders and lungs, so laps make sense). Laps around a track are also a good way for her to burn off some of that abundant energy. Back at school, she's a natural for the school paper, either as a reporter or the resident gossip columnist."

Cancer + Gemini
Water + Air = Rain
Being a Cancer, ruled by the Moon, you are sensitive and emotional. You feel rather than think. Gemini is more intellectual and thoughtful, living in the head rather than the heart. This difference between you will have to be bridged if you are to build a deep and meaningful relationship.
Maybe it’s simply a matter of both of you accepting that the other is vastly different, and each of you handling the aspects of life suited to your personality. That way, the relationship stands a chance of lasting.
This difference was clear in the relationship between actors Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman. Nicole is an intellectual girl. Analysis would be her forte. Tom relates to people in a far more sensitive and emotional way.
Geminis find it difficult to get their emotions involved, even in love and sex. You want to connect with Gemini’s heart, but this could be too hard — their brain dominates them in everything. From Gemini’s point of view, if you fail to connect with them intellectually, they will lose interest.
They have a hard time learning about non-verbal means of communicating. You may be the star sign that can teach them this new level of understanding. So while you are not a perfect match, you can learn much from each other.
You will appeal to Geminis who want to communicate their deepest feelings. If you can, stay away from the bedroom until you have a good social and cultural connection with them. If you use this connection as a foundation, rather than sex, you have a better chance of surviving deeper romantic involvement.
Tread warily in the money minefield with any Gemini you’re romantically linked to.
Be particularly careful in this area with Geminis born between 22 May and 1 June — your views on money will be poles apart. It may seem odd to talk about money, about your financial philosophy, with someone at the start of a relationship, but you both need to understand where the other stands. If you avoid the issue you could run into problems that will undermine your relationship.
Those born between 2 June and 12 June will be better suited as friends than lovers. This is because Venus strongly rules your friendship sector. You are likely to feel an immediate attraction to them — they radiate strength and sensuality.
Take care with Geminis born between 13 June and 21 June. You are strongly attracted to these people sexually, but you need a strong emotional and material base to make this work long term. Gemini is, after all, a rather flighty star sign, and you need a security and stability.
The excitement a Gemini brings to your life is undeniable, but remember, no honeymoon lasts forever. Compromise is the key word if the two of you are going to make this combination work.

Someone said on here said, "Geminis are know for their hot temper..." Ahahahaha!!!! My birthday is June 12 and I am probably the most easy going guy you could ever meet. That said, don't worry about astrology signs. Just be a good mom to your daughter and always set a good example for her and things will be fine. My daughter is a Cancer (June 26) and we get along just fine! People need to just relate to each other and take responsibility for their actions and quit blaming outside forces (like astrology) when there are problems.

I am a Cancer. My sister & my boyfriend's son are Geminis. We get along fine.
The constant chatting is not a Gemini-thing. That's a mother-daughter thing as is the clashing =)

Unfortunately, Gemini's are known for their hotter temper and dual personalities. My Mom is a Sagittarius and I'm a Gemini...it took us YEARS to finally have a civil conversation after I left home. Keep the rules tight but give her some creative leeway...she needs to express herself to be her. Rules will keep her stable and while she doesn't see that now, she will later on.

Ooh. You must've had some trouble on her birthday in 2006. But anyway, Cancerian and Gemini generally mix well together but I think you should work on building your relationship rather than consulting the stars.

Whoa!! I have to gemini girls and I'm a Cancerian mom. My oldest is a preteen, and has always been stubborn as heck, but she's a mommy's girl at heart. Yes, I believe you will have a great relationship with her. I do with both of mine. You just have to have a lot of patience.

well looking to astrological signs as a way of analyzing personalities has always been what is scientifically known as the 'assholian solution'.
You will most likely not have a good relationship when she grows, because you look to celestial bodies to determine your personality, and because you are a moron.
Hope this helps!
