This question has raged for several thousand years. I believe now we are the point of equality within society in which we can state as regards to the human race a clear winner in the battle of the sexes - and the winner is.............?

(please keep all answers polite - thank you)

Not that they aren't blood-thirsty. Did any of you read on reuters about that woman who paid a contract hit-man to kill her son so that she'd have more living space?

I've appreciated all of these answers. I like the long ones but I think that one should really look at the use of paragraphs - when not and when to use them. They help reading. Just a point - thought I might pick the reader/potential writer up on it.

Thanks for the point about what/which use - that's useful. Deserves a thumbs up at least.

As for the answer to this particular question - if we were looking at perfect examples of human males/females (which do not exist apart from in concept) - then we'd not be able to distinguish a clear winner. I wish anyone luck in finding their partner of choice.

One without the other????

Useless.

Now together - man & woman make life, love, & to the delight of the Lord, unity.
But to answer- neither. I think we compliment each other ~ like bread and butter- salt & pepa -chicken & a chicken container. To truly understand that, is to understand heaven.

Oh, come on!

I think it's time for the race to friggin' GROW UP and stop this nonsense.

There is not better or worse; different does NOT imply superiority or inferiority.

I mean, women are better at carrying and giving birth, men are better at impregnating.

Without both of those, we'd die out.

Just to give one example.

Even where there are differences (and those difference say nothing about individuals, they're "on the whole, by-and-large" etc.) it simply isn't case of one being Better than the other.

cheesh!

As with most things in life -- and especially when looking at broad categories --there isn't a "best."

Grrrr. Arg!

Now I'll go read the other answers to see if anyone else rejected the premise.

Better? That's awfully hard to measure. In general? Well, I would say men and women are equal. You need two to tango. They aren't equal in every respect (like, we're not the _same_ exact thing regardless of what people in genders studies might want you to believe) - rather I see men and women as complimentary; but the inherent value of each person is the same regardless of sex.

Let's put it this way, I wouldn't trade in all the men in the world for women and vice versa. I'm definitely happy having as close to a balanced match as possible.

Better for what exactly? There is no simply better. For example men's brains are physically designed better for things like spacial relations and math. Women give birth a lot better than guys do. They also have a inately higher pain thresh hold. Guys will just ignore the pain.

For me, women are better to have sex with. But if you ask most women they'll probably say they'd rather have sex with a guy. We need eachother plain and simple. Neither sex is clear cut superior or even close.

First let me ask you the paramount question, What is better man or woman. my question is At or for What?Math; women of course why a woman can tell you to the ounce if a two cans of tuna will make enough supper for family members and a few drop in guests as well at cost per person and which stores have it on sale working it all out in her head with coupons
If there is enough fabric in a sale remnant to finish a gorgeous wedding gift and if the new stain in the livingroom ceiling is going to mean a plumbers bill or if its just basketball mud." And who did it before father comes home"
Science women of course why every woman knows the basic chemistry to tell you what is that sticky stuff in the bottom of a pocket and what will get it off before the next time that pair of pants is needed. While creating the conditions for jam to jam, fudge to fudge or mayonnaise to be and popovers to pop
Horticulture woman again why the orange seeds in her rhododendron spouted and grew into a grapefruit tree.
Music which mother is not aware of what tune each child is learning for their instrument and grade for a recital
Women multitask naturally, they have untapped strengths of body and character that leave men in the dust
Women are better at almost anything you care to mention because at the end of the day when all is said and done. Who is still at it... Women! Men work their 9 to five and come home to a wife who has also worked a nine to five out of the home or in it and she must prepare food get kids ready for next day and be a sweet tempered partner for him. It is not the option its just expected ...So I ask you what is better man or woman...Men because they need women and dont make me say the rest...! Of course there are exceptions but this is not reality this is apples and oranges and every body knows this

At what?

I mean, not to put too fine a point on it, but women are a million times better at getting pregnant and bearing children compared to men.

And men are much better at inseminating women than women are.

Beyond that, you have to look at either skills or other measures of value.

For skills requiring aggressiveness, a generally better level of strength and physical endurance, and generally a better level of spatial memory you're looking at men. Additionally, if you're looking for which gender that it would be possible to risk and lose more of without having a major drop in human reproduction potential then those are also men.

For skills requiring communication, better sensory and social perception, and a generally higher degree of attachment to children you're looking for women.

This isn't saying extraordinary men or exceptional women aren't out there.

As far as social value, this depends on the culture (and religion) you're talking about

Biological value, you can't really argue against either as a gender because one without the other is meaningless.

However, men tend to manifest genetic faults more and serve as better indicators of phenotypic problems. Females, as part of the process of taking a fertilized ovum through to birth, serve to help weed out congenital or severe genetic faults in the womb.

Individual men and individual women can be argued against based on their fitness to survive, fitness to reproduce, or fitness to be in society.

So, which gender is better is kinda' an incomplete question...

Why does one have to be better than the other? Both genders have their plus and minus points, and both have a function to perform within society. Society needs both genders, despite what others might say because genetic material is needed from both for reproduction of the species.
A society made up completely of men would mean an absence of seating - it would become too painful to sit down.
A society made up completely of women would an extremely bitchy affair.
As to which is better - neither.

I think we are on a par. Women have their many strong points for e.g cooking, cleaning...only joking lol. Women are better at expressing themselves and communicating and also been motherly and caring whilst men are more practical and can drink more beer (kidding again). This isnt sexism but simply natures way. We both excel in different areas and as a team can tackle most obstacles together.

Dear,
Both r unique in their own way...and both compliment each other...a woman has all those qualities which a man lacks and vice versa..a woman has a lot of patience n u know that men are impatient..women r physically less stronger than men...so no one is better than the other but look BEST together!! we can compare them to a lock n key....one is waste without the other...women r strong emotionally...verrrry strong while men r strong physically. what a man lacks, a woman balances and a woman lacks, a man balances...
So both r better in their own right....
i'm a woman... but i'm not a feminist....i like men for their unique qualities....and i'm also proud of my womanhood...

i believe that the woman is better and i dont say that just because i am one. a man NEEDS a woman in order to survive. A women dont need NOBODY. we can survive on our own.

like i heard in a movie once a man might be the head of a house or whatever, but the woman is the neck. and the neck controls where the head goes.....

Women - hands down.

How many women have started wars as compared to men?

Without DNA testing what is the only sure way to trace lineage? Through the Mother.
