Im looking for the standard font used for Japanese text.

I dont have XP, I have 98.

Also, Im not looking for a translation, I am looking for a font to make japanese text viewable.

Ive done it before by just downloading a new font. I just cant remember where I found it.

if you have windows xp, you should be able to set it up. go to control panel \ regional and language options \ click the language tab, check the box that reads "install files for east asian languages"

Russian and Greek can be done with just a new font, but more complex script like Japanese and Chinese need a whole new system of encoding because they are 16-bit characters rather than 8-bit.

For Windows 98, I don't remember the exact sequence, but you will need your windows disk, and you should be able to install those files on the "add windows programs" on the control panel. You should be able to access "help" on your desktop by pressing F1 and that should point you in the right direction.

Go to www.google.com then click on Language tools .you will see a tranlating box .
