You have to have a plot in your mind. Personally, I hate writing down my plot, but I know what's going to happen in the story, even the minor details.

After getting your plot (you can write it down if you like), think of your characters, your main characters specifically. Create pasts for them. Make them flawed characters. No reader wants to know about a character that is perfect; who can reach out to such a character?

Then, write. Write whatever part of the story is your favorite. If you want, don't start at the beginning. Skip around. Then, as you get more and more of the story down, start pulling your scattered parts together.

When you have finished your first draft, leave your story alone for a while. Come back to it later. If you feel that it has potential, revise, revise and revise. Get someone to read it over.

Often after writing the first draft, I abandon my stories, feeling they aren't creative enough. Try to find a way to keep your stories alive.

Good luck! Happy writing!

I think that there are some writers secrets that I can share. First write about what you know. Second, make sure that your audience gets to know the characters intimately. I have read many books with great plots that I put down because I didn't care what happened to the characters. Third, write the whole book without editing it. Don't worry about spelling etc. just let the words flow. Later you can correct all the technical stuff later.

Think about what you want to write. A plot, characters, settings, etc... after that you can write an outline, or you can just start writing.

Yeah, just start writing or typing away! If you have a computer, save your work often in case of power outages!

The very first thing you have to do is: Write it! This can also be the most difficult. Anything else is jumping the gun.
