Even if we did live in a totalitarian police state I would be even more likely to ask controversial questions and give provocative answers than now. As for fear of the "thought police" it's likely that if the security services were interested in you they would already know more about you than you could possibly imagine.

For centuries Britain has been a beacon of liberty of thought, belief and speech, but now the freedom of its intellectual and political life is being subjected to a subtle form of 'censorship'.Since 1997 Britain has been ruled by political correctness for the first time. The LABOUR GOVERNMENT was the FIRST UK government NOT to stand up to political correctness!!!!!!!

There are loads of questions I'd like to ask, but as the first answerer says, we are now a Police State, and asking them would get a knock on the door at 4am from the Plod.

There is no freedom of speech in the UK. Your rights are what the House of Commons say they are. The sad part is how willing Brits are to allow their freedoms to be eroded

There's certainly more freedom of speech in this forum than anywhere else I know but you are wise to keep inflammatory opinions to yourself.

Not just the thought police out there, but the ones in here too. Seems to me you can't voice an opinion that disagrees with the readers of the Daily Mail without incurring a violation.
