Both are very good cars. But, I would say, for your age, get the Civic. It's smaller, better gas mileage, and you can get around better in it. The Accord would be "safer" because it is bigger and has more airbags.

I also wanted to buy a civic a couple of month ago, ( the accord is bigger and more expensive). I was willing to pay up too $8000. but I found out that civics cost alot

I think you will not find a good civic for that price, the cheapest civic I found was 2001 for $7400 and it was a rebuilt car with a history full of trouble. even if you found a civic with this price it will be at least ten years old or in really bad shape that it will cost you alot to bring to a reliable condition.

as for leasing, you will find dealers who tell you to pay $4000 down payment and get the car for about $200 monthly payment, but they don't tell you that you will be forced to buy an expensive insurance for about $2000 a year.

also don't be tricked into thinking that a good milage will save you alot of money, (it will if you drive 50 miles every day). but if your travel is up to ten miles a day, you will end up saving like a hundred bucks a year or so.

Also I recommend you buy a used cheap car for your first car, this way you can buy your dream car a couple of years later when you are more experienced.

I ended up with a chevorlet cavalier 2001 for $5200, all girls told me that it is so beautifull that I am now shy of driving a girlie car.

With your budget, a Civic is better. If you can find an older person (60s+) who didn't put mileage on their Accord and are selling it cheap, then I would go that route, as the Accord is usually more reliable and keeps their value better. Accord does have a two door model that looks really cool if you're looking for sporty or something to impress your friends. Accords are also faster and have the option of a V6.

The Accord is more of an 'I have arrived' car than the Civic. The Civic is also fun to drive. For $5500. however, you are looking at something a few years old which is not a problem with a Civic (I drive them into the ground over a 10 year period with almost no repair costs).

Buy a Civic. You will get slightly better gas milage and a Civic coupe or hatchback will be easier to handle for an inexperienced driver. Also, you will have better luck finding a more recent model Civic for your budget. Accords are more expensive, even used ones.

My first new car was a Civic EX. Perfect car for a young female.

Accord is better, but Civic is more affordable. The Civic is also easier for a 16-year old to drive. My 16-year old son and even my older kids have trouble driving my Accord, because it is quite powereful. It is very easy to squeal the tires. The Civic is much more driveable.

I have had an accord and 2 civics. If I were you I would go with the civic. They are all you are thinking they are, and one more thing, I found that parts for a civic are cheaper and easier to find.

On line under Honda listings of Answers you'll mostly see
repair questions for the two models at issue. Think about what that means before you've purchased either and have
limited spending capital.

Suggest you consider purchase of NEW Yamaha Trailways 200-B Model. It is an all weather machine that goes anyplace on knobby, cheap to operate/2.5 gallon tank with reserve, parks anyplace but I'd suggest padlock with steel cable. Being seen and admired won't be hard but getting preggers on rear seat will be difficult.

You'll need half face helmet with visor if you wear glasses and full face otherwise. Red Wing engineer boots. Insulated PVC gloves. 2-piece Red Ledge nylon water/wind resistant. Ordinary but layered clothing under nylon. Knapsack to carry surplus. Weapon cases can be fitted to machine if desired. I've got TW with 44K+ miles and on second set of rubber. Run mine from sea side to alpine snow and back but it would be better at urban byway use. I'd like to run mine into the larger storm water tunnels under cities for alligator hunting.
