I am dating an American and I live in Canada and we cross back and forth across the border twice a week, my question is how long will this be allowed for until the customs guys stop us from going back and forth? As well, is it permissable for him to live in Canada and still work in the U.S. since it seems more likely of that happening than for me to work here and live in the U.S.?

At this time, there is no limit or restriction on the number of times citizens of either Canada or the US cross the border between the two countries; except that you now need a passport. Once your passport is full, you may have to get a new one. There are restrictions on the amount of time you are allowed to remain in the US if you are Canadian. If you are crossing back and forth on a regular basis, that should not be a worry.

You may wish to speak to a lawyer in your area for details. You may also wish to visit the US Citizen and Immigration Service, http://www.uscis.gov/portal/site/uscis

Good luck!

If he is a US citizen, it doesn't matter where he lives, he is still eligible to work in the US.

Many people live in one country and commute to work or spend time at 2nd homes in the other. There is no limit, you may just get the third degree from time to time.
