..HECK is a "MM party dance"?! Now THAT'S something I'd love to see (I think?)!

Okay, for a "REAL" question - what's the name for the color pattern of bettas where the scales are outlined in a different color? Someone asked this in a previous edit and I don't think you caught it - maybe I'll go back and reword your answer plus the added info and get THOSE 10 pts. away from you at least! Think I know, but I've only seen the term applied to yellows, so want to check if it applies to all colors before I answer.

Pineapple was what I've heard too, but only with yellow/mustard bettas.

to CATXCATXX - I once had a betta that looked exactly like yours - he's what got me interested in breeding them.

to MM - seriously, you OUGHT to consider this a community service - it is, and it's within your field (I saw what classes you teach in the salt question). If nothing else, it might surprise you how much time you put into this! You're on when I log in, you still on sometimes when I log out for the day - when do you TEACH? If nothing else, copy and paste your answers here into an aquarium resouce book and make some money!

And I've seen worse go into some tenure applications!

i had a yellow with that, and its called pineapple on a yellow fish.
i put a picture of him below, he's passed on now sadly. excuse the tatty fin, he was a compulsive tail biter!

on other colours it's often referred to as "dragon"

LOL... no, you don't want to see that, my kids blush if I even start to do that in front of them LOL " Oh dad... if you EVER do that at school....!" Haven't you even been so happy you felt like dancing around the room?.... lucky for me only the fish were there LOL I'm still crossing my fingures on the Chocolates.... did it once before about 15 years ago, but couldn't repeat it then.

I have seen so many names for that black edged scale pattern it's not even funny. Lace, pinecone, pineapple, scalloping, etc, etc seems that it has different names in different parts of the counrty and even on different colors of fish... the IBC doesn't have a standard term for it that I am aware of, so your guess it as good as mine. Of course, you see it on many colors of bettas now, but the edging itself is almost always black. Very common in dark blues, greens and reds as well as several metallic colors. I like it on some colors but dislike it on others. Looks cool on several darker metallics but I don't like it a bit on reds... I wish I could fault it in judging as a color mix... but oh well.

Hummmm.. community service hours....... hummmmm.... LOL... naaa the board would never go for it.
