its all a big scam by the government to restrict us and get us to do what they want us to do. the earth goes through stages of warming and cooling, so we're not gonna sink just yet.

There are differing views on this subject, and unless we each fully understand the what/ifs/buts, its hard to know exactly WHAT the cause is. Its common sense that Carbon emissions cannot be good,as are many other things, but the Sun "getting hotter" is also visable. The Sun?? Nothing we can do. Which is causing global warming? If Scientists still disagree, how are we mere mortals to decide............................

I personally believe that the warming of the earth is down to heat output from the sun. There has been an increase in solar activity since about 2001 (this was first reported back in 1997/1998) and it is likely to continue for another 10 to 15 years - so it is likely to get warmer still. Yes we should cut back on pollutants if only because we have to breathe it in. The scaremongering being used by politicians is based upon incomplete facts, and I believe is more to with the fact that fossil fuel supplies are starting to dwindle and this their way of trying to conserve stocks. Not only that it's a great way to increase taxation - fool the populace into believing that it's for their own good.

Global warming is a reality, but the causes are debatable (as are all "scientific facts" - put two scientists in a room and they'll argue till the sun goes supernova). However, we continue to despoil the natural equilibrium of nature at our peril. This balance has allowed the human race to thrive, so if we ruin our environment and collapse the ecology that supports us, then we face disaster as a species. Our insatiable consumption may or may not be hastening global warming but it is certainly damaging our home, this planet, beyond sustainability for our society.
So to answer your question as best I can: I suggest the issue is more political and philosphical than scientific - and you should consider your response to that situation accordingly.
Best wishes

The sun goes through cycles, getting hotter and then cooling down. Nothing you can do about that. The Middle Ages were far warmer than now. CO2 comprises 0.54% of the atmosphere. I think it's all a smoke screen to distract people from what the politicians are really up to.

The sun getting hotter? Yeah, that's not a cause of global warming. Global warming is mostly due to carbon emissions. Carbon dioxide is what holds heat in the atmosphere. The more there is, the hotter things are here on earth. Since all petroleum products are made partly of carbon, which bonds with oxygen when burned creating carbon dioxide, the more we burn it, the more carbon dioxide there is. The carbon in oil has been trapped underground for millions of years, where it could have no affect on the atmosphere. Now that it is released, it can.
Global warming is real, it is just common sense science, and the cause is obvious. Anyone who tells you otherwise doesn't understand the situation or is lying.

Personally , I think it is too late to reverse , given the exponential human population growth the last 1/2 century and the major religious opposition to birth control.
Your time may be better spend figuring out the best way to adapt and survive.
The drinking water shortages for a significant number of countries will be major.

Of course, nothing can be done to make the sun cooler. But,even if you don't believe in global warming, consider the following.
Saving energy, in any form saves *you* money, and as a byproduct, slows the greenhouse effect. And the downside to saving money is......?

It's a combination of many things, and carbon emissions are not the dominant factor.

Our weather is always determined by the sun. Some people think themselves so important they blame man for climate change, others think enough of us are gullible enough to swallow junk science and give up our freedoms, private property rights and pay higher taxes to spread the misery in the world.
