Since December, I've had pregnancy symptoms that continue to keep coming. While I had a positive home pregnancy test at home, the urine test at the Doctors office was negative. My breasts have doubled in size, I've missed now 3 periods, I continue to have cramps and now my pants do not fit at all. My breasts are extremely sore, my mood swings are awful. Am I losing my mind or is a negative test at the Doctors office normal if its too early...I'm getting a blood test today. What I'm scared of is if its not pregnancy whats going on with me???

thanks everyone!!! And no, I know it's not a hormone imbalance, when I had my pap smear done in Nov. I also had all my hormone levels checked which were fine and I'm also not on any medication. But thanks for making me feel like I'm not going off the deep end!!!=)

If you're not actually pregnant, which it sounds like you are very pregnant, then obviously your doctor will do some testing to see what is actually wrong. If you're going to get a blood test, you'll already be there, so you'll be able to find out what's up.

Its possible that the results at the doctors were off, but unlikely if you got a positive at home before hand.

If you're not pregnant, your symptoms would be considered a false pregnancy, or Pseudocyesis more likely than not. When the female brain thinks its pregnant, the body will respond as though it is, even to the point of lactating and the uterus swelling. Its generally caused by a chemical pregnancy, where the embryo is aborted by the body very early in pregnancy, shortly after the HCG hormones spike (thus the positive pregnancy test, and then the negative at the MD's), and is treated with phsycological therapy, or in some cases hormone therapy with pills.

It doesnt make you crazy. It makes you someone who thought they were really pregnant, and someone who has a body that responds at the drop of a hat.

If its not a false pregnancy, it can be any number of non-serious medical issues that are easily remedied.

Your doctor will best direct you. Be sure to discuss all your concerns with him.

Okay...you could very well be pregnant. Let me tell you that I had 5 POSITIVE home pregnancy test and when I went to the doctor and they tested me there...IT CAME BACK NEGATIVE!!! The doctor said we had to do a BLOOD TEST to be sure (that's the only way you'll know for sure!!!) and sure enough the blood test came back saying that I WAS PREGNANT. I'm just a little shocked that your doctor didn't push for the blood test right then and there when you had a POSITIVE home pregnancy test!!! In my case, it turned out that the nurse doing the test at the doctor's office must not have done it right...yes, they are only human and make mistakes....SO GO GET A BLOOD TEST ASAP!!! If you are having all these symptoms of a pregnant woman and you had a positive home pregnancy test...most likely you are....

And while you wait...get yourself prenatal vitamins asap...you've missed 3 periods already...you are already pretty far along you need to take care of that baby if you are pregnant...

It is possible that the blood test at the dr's office is wrong. No you are not loosing your mind LOL. I was pregnant with my now 10 1/2 month old daughter, had a blood test at the dr and it was negative when I in fact was pregnant. I had a postive home test. Ask your dr to do an additional test measuring the hcg in your blood. They are two different tests. One just detects it, giving a positve or negative result. The other test actually gives you a number telling you how much of the hormone is present. Hope this helps. Good luck!

I am 99 percent sure y ou are pregnant, based on your described symptoms.

The urine tests at the doctors are not nearly as sensitive as the "early result" ones you can buy at the drug store. So if your doctor's urine test was very very early on in the pregnancy, it might have been wrong.

It is good they are doing a blood test, those are far more sensitive and more accurate. But if it comes out negative, they will need to do some more testing to see what might be going on.

But like I said, I guess you are pregnant.

Please let us know how this turns out! I am curious to know!

It sounds as if you are pregnant. I would get another pregnancy test if I were you,and better still a scan. My sister-in-law got negative results right through her pregnancy until at 7 months she was sent for a scan and discovered she was pregnant. Her negative result is now 22 years old. For some reason the blood results don't always show the proper result .Make an appointment right away and congratulations.

It all depends on when you went to the doctor. Did you go a week or 2 after you missed your first period? If so, it may have been too early. Have you talked to your doctor about your symptoms?

I have the same symptoms and that is b/c I (1) have not had relations in a while, (2) my cycle is changing to match my co-workers, or (3) my body (mind) is reacting to someone at work that is pregnant (kind of like sympathy pains but sympathy pregnancy).

Call your doctor.

sounds pregnant to me... and you could be more than 3 months pregnant... you need to get to a doctor ASAP!

If you tested early at home and got a positive, and doc was negative, your at home test may have been a little bit more sensitive to the hormone Hcg. Take another HPT and if it is still positive, girl, get your butt into a doctor ASAP. no questions do not pass go... lol seriously.

you need to start taking vitamins and the doc should probably do an u/s to make sure the baby is fine.

GOOD LUCK!

Well you sound pregnant. The blood test at the doctor will be able to confirm it. If you're not, it sounds like something is definitely off with your hormone levels, if that's the case, the doctor can do more blood work to determine what's going on.

Good Luck.

No you are not losing your mind, well no more so than any pregnant woman!

I think it's strange that your doctor did another test. When I went to make an appt. to confirm pregnancy the nurse asked if I took a HPT, when I said yes, they said you're pregnant and scheduled my first preggo appt.

Please note that urine tests are 99% accurate for a positive (unless you are on some fertility medications) and that they are only 50% accurate for a negative.

Congratulations!
