Some updates are important/necessary, some are not.

Security updates fix known problems that put your computer at risk for viruses/trojans. Will your computer up and die today if you miss an update? Not likely, but your computer may be at higher risk if you do not keep it up to date.

This is just one of the joys of running Windows!

Critical updates are important to protect the integrity of the O?S and computer. They fix known reported bugs such as security holes.

The upgrades don't usually take up extra memory. You may have another problem.
