ask yourself some hard questions..in no certain order...
Can I live without this man in my life even for a day or week, etc. without seeing or talking to him?
Do I "need" a man?
Will I ever find a more perfect man?
Do I need to be married?
Do I want to be married?
Do I want to be married to this man?
Do I need to be married to be a complete woman(the answer to this one is a definate NO..if you said yes, then there is much to work to do on yourself first )
If you were really getting married...you would ask yourself...
1. Why are you geting married?
2. Have you spent more time planning your wedding more than your marriage?
3. Are you investing more than you can afford to lose?(everything else plus the money)
4. Have you identified and communicated your needs and expectations of the marriage?
(negotiate a pre-nup agreement)?
there may be many more, but this should get you thinking about things
good luck

Ok I am a 14 year old gurl but it may be very helpful of my answer. If u love this man you will tell him how you feel about him not proposing yet( if u really wanted him to), then ask him if he really loves you. if you really pay close attention to him and his actions then you should notice wat the answer is. Thats how i found out if my man loved me. But then again your boyfriend may be just giving time to know everything about you so when he will(if he does) propose, make sure that ya'll are perfect for each other. okee dokie i hope you get the result you want.

The thing you have to ask yourself is if you're ready to get married and if you are you have to talk to him and find out if he is. If he is then you're not wasting your time but if he isn't then you need to move on. But remember the first thing to think about is if you're ready to move your relationship to that next level. Families always pressure couples into marriage if they've been together for so long but you have to remember that you and your partner both need to be ready for that type of committment. Don't rush into marriage.

Five years and he has not proposed? Something must be wrong either with you, him, or both of you. Wake up girl time waits for no man especially when they are ladies ok. The guy has all the time but you don't have - "Shine your eyes"

Hmm...Are you ok about him not asking you to marry him? Could you wait longer for him? Are you happy with him? I think it is a little weird that he has not asked you to marry him...but that is also depending on his work situation and if he is capable to ask you marry him (if he has some money saved up and he is stable). If he is well off in his job, then I think you should discuss his future plans with you. If he has no plans to marry in a couple years then I think I would let go. Especially if you plan on marrying anytime soon.

It's only a big deal if you want to get married and he doesn't or if you're ready now and he won't be for a long time.

It could be something you could work though but IF he doesn't want to get married or isn't ready to get married you can't force him into it. That would only end in divorce...

I guess I'm saying.. You should ask him.

After 3 years, it is time to get married or move on, unless there is a reason like finishing school or something important like that.

Ask him what his plan is and if he wants to get married fine, if not tell him that you love him but that you want something more out of life and say "I'm sorry and I'm going to miss you but we want different things. " Please don't let him string you along another 5 years.

Good luck!!

It all depends on how you feel about the situation. It doesn't matter what other people think. Don't let it interfere with things if they are good the way they are.

If you want to get married and are wondering yourself, talk to him about it. If he is not looking to marry you, then you might want to re-evaluate your relationship.

Good luck!

I say that if a person can't or won't commit after a couple of years or so, they probably never will. Cut him loose.
