Most people don't seem to realize that all wild horses in the Americas are feral herds, since the horse was extinct in the New World until the arrival of the Europeans.

It also appears that the only "wild" herds in central Asia are descended from animals reintroduced into the wild from herds kept in zoos or ranches, so there don't appear to be any truly "wild" herds anywhere.

I know there is a wild breed in French wetlands called the Camargue. I don't know whether Brumbies in Australia are considered wild or feral.

The Mongolian Wild Horse, Przewalski's horse is considered the only true "wild horse". However, these "wild horses" have gone effectually extinct in the wild, existing only in zoos or captive breeding programs. The term "wild" i guess refers to "not domesticated".
