I used to work as a CNA in as assisted living home. We had as many employees as we did residents, so one Christmas our employees were to each pick names out of a hat and buy our resident a Christmas gift. 2 days before Christmas, my resident was hospitalized with a broken hip and rib. So, on Christmas, I visited her and brought her her gift, balloons and some Christmas candy. I knew she wouldn't have any other visitors, as she didn't have a spouse or children, only a nephew who was her "guardian". She looked really happy to see me, and I stayed for a long time and talked to her and played cards and it was one of my best Christmas' ever.

Some woman was in the supermarket with her 3 kids and she did not have enough money to pay for her food so I gave her twenty bucks so she would not have to put anything back. I had just got my tax check so twenty bucks was no problem. She was so grate full. It made me feel so good to be able to help her like that. But ironically the next day I was shopping and had to break a hundred cause I was short 25 cent and nobody would give me a quarter.

I have a friend who's been thru a lot in life. She was a young mother and when she had her baby at three in the morning, I picked up our other two best friends and we went to the hospital. I also called everyone that nite to tell them. I threw her babyshower and took care of her all thru her pregnancy (the dad wasn't really in the picture and isn't 5 years later). I was there when the dad used to hit her and stayed the nite with her a lot so she wouldn't be alone. When she became a CNA my friend and I bought her a ruby pendant for her with a long letter about how proud we were of her. I'll always be there for her because she's there for me.

Probably reading through a friend's dissertation and helping her with her grammar. I didn't think anything of it but she seemed really grateful. Apart from that I tend to be quite good at getting friends out of situations where they're about to get hurt (physically mostly for boys, emotionally mostly for girls).

Actually one lad went through a messy break-up and 3 close friends were on constant vigil so that one of us could be looking out for him all the time. He wrote us all a letter telling us we were the best friends ever, so maybe that was it. Again at the time it was just the right thing to do...

I called a total stranger on the phone to alert them that their name was just announced on the radio to win money if they called the station.
She called, and won the money
I was about 10 at the time, she was about 80.
We became telephone friends for a few years until she died.
