I have visited the UAE 4 times now and I have noticed along with the heat that the air is different compared to UK summer weather even though the UAE gets hot AND humid in the summer.
Let me explain: It is as if the air has been pressurised, it is as if the air is gently vibrating around us, or as if the air is gently shaking, and the air over there feels kind of rubbery. Can somebody please explain what THAT type of air or that type of heat is. Thanks.

It's not the heat, it's the humidity.

Seriously. The level of humidity in the Persian Gulf region is greater than anywhere else in the world, due to the subtropical air mass over the Arabian Peninsula combined with the extremely warm Gulf waters. I've seen weather station data from UAE showing dew point temperatures close to 100 deg Fahrenheit (36 C). That is absolutely astonishing, and completely unknown in any other part of the world, including the tropics. (By contrast, the most humid days here in the US, in Florida or Texas in summer, rarely get dew points above 80 F or 26 C.) Even if that station report is faulty, it's probably not too far off - there are many other records showing dew points in the mid 90s.

I've never been to that part of the world, but I'd have to think that it is the intense humidity that creates the impression you describe above.
