Incorporated in Delaware, established in Houston, Texas in 1919, Halliburton recently announced that they plan to move their corporate headquarters to Dubai. Under normal circumstances, no one who supports capitalism would object to or question this move. After all, within the limits of the law, a corporation has the right to make decisions that will benefit them and ensure their continued success. Considering the controversy associated with Halliburton’s shoddy performance in Iraq—the no-bid contracts, their ties to Cheney, contaminated drinking water, rancid food, gross over-billing, missing money—doesn’t this seem conspicuously convenient and timely? Just as Congress is building a head of steam to investigate Halliburton’s questionable activities, they jump ship. Isn’t this a little too much of a coincidence?

TO FERRARIFAN: Obviously, you have difficulty understanding basic English. If you would have read my question, you'd understand that I have no problem with capitalism. I do, however, have a problem with unscrupulous corporations that steal money from tax payers and treat our troops with such disrespect.
Furthermore, if you knew anything about democracy, you'd know that it functions because it is a blend of socialism and capitalism. So stuff that in your fascist pipe and smoke it.

TO REAL ESTATE PARA LEGAL: Why does it always have to be about Liberals vs Conservatives or Democrats vs Republican? I have absolutely no allegiance to any party. I am against fraud, breaking the law, violating the Constitution and any other activity that compromises America regardless of political affiliation. I could care less who owns Halliburton stock. You completely missed my point.

Halliburton was not established in Houston in 1919. Corporate headquarters does not determine taxes paid. They are incorporated in Delaware. The move is more symbolic to be closer to Petroleum Customers. Basically only one key individual will physically move to cut down on time flying to visit the customers.
The description of "controversy" is based primarily on Democrats trying to drag down Cheney. Have you ever tried to source clean water and food in a place such as Iraq on such a scale without some bad product getting through? What gross overbilling? Based upon the amount of work that has been carried out with Halliburton paying the costs from their pockets, how much mark up would be fair? If I asked you to buy me $1000 worth of product, would you agree for me to pay you $1020 when I get around to it later?
These contracts are constantly being audited and we all know auditors will bring up points to be addressed regardless. The Democrats has construed these audit results as known issues whereas they are simply points for further analysis.
There is no doubt there may be individuals on the ground that attempts to pocket some money when the opportunity arises and many of those people have been identified by Halliburton's own internal auditors.
Get real. This is a monumental task that has been carried out with a high degree of success for the troops at reasonable compensation. Anything identified and proven will undoubtedly be addressed and Halliburton has shown that it will willingly make changes and compensation.

Besides, I hope halliburton takes over the whole oil business. I am a proud shareholder. Seriously, get your facts straight you liberal socialist.

Don't be surprised when more businesses move their headquarters overseas. Our tax code is one of the main reasons companies are movig.
Why did they choose Germany over the US when Mercedes and Chrysler merged...The biggest reason was our messed up tax laws.
If you want companies to stay here or move back, then change the tax code to something better...like the fair tax.

I think its funny when LIBS don't do their research. George Soros is investing 173 mill in Haliburton. Do I have to explain who he is? The left has been bashing the big H over and over and over. Now your pissed that they are leaving? I don't get it. They are still an American company and will pay American taxes.

confident i will admit I hate it, yet as others mentioned, i might supply it extra of a great gamble than i might with yet another artist that i did no longer look after. I quite have heard countless songs that have been wack from artists that i admire. i'm frequently extremely disillusioned.

They will still be subject to US jurisdiction and subpoena.
Hey, if they are so good at going after nothing but the almighty dollar, maybe I should buy stock!
I believe you have mischaracterized them in many ways.
