Hi, I'm in HR. If you just got fired or laid off then you should file for unemployment right away, that's in the US, I'm not sure where you are. Call your state unemployment agency, you can even do a claim on the phone if you have your last pay stub information. Unemployment insurance isn't as much as you were making but it's a start to keep you going. Good luck.

Go to your local child and families office. they have lots of programs that can help you. you can get help with medical and with food.they can also assist you in finding another job. you should be able to get financial aid for the kids from the state. good luck.
