I have pets and am afraid to use chemicals, but we have an older home and have centipedes and flies. I have read something about eucalyptus, but am not sure how to use or apply it.

You can buy organic spray at the garden store that is safe to use around pets. I bought some that smells like nutmeg.

For the flies, fill zip-lock bags with water and hang them on the doors into your house. The flies will not enter through that door.

For centipedes, collect as many as possible, put them in a blender, blend with water until finely ground and spray the area with the liquid. They will stay away. This works with most insects. You must grind each type of insect to drive away that insect.

Sticky traps are the best - fly strips for the flies and those ones that sit on the floor for the centipedes. They are not poisonous to pets, and not sticky enough if they happen to accidently step on it.

The big sticky mouse/rat traps work great for bugs that crawl but you need to put them where kids and pets can't get into them.
If you go to a farm supply store, you can get fly strips to hang. They will attract and hold flys.
