I have a s-10 blazer, probably 10 or 11 years old. it has had a rebuilt engine put in it last year. Its leaking oil after you drive it for a while and it gets warm, but I never see it, just the puddle after its been sitting. Any suggestions what it could be?? Thanks

the puddle seems to be right in front between the two front tires. I can stand there and never see it drip, and my oil levels are fine, but it is black engine oil.

sounds like the front seal is leaking,or the oil pan gasket.also it could be coming from the timing chain cover.

I don't know specifically, but check your valve cover gasket (all around) at the top of your engine (leaks in back a lot of times). Also check under your car around the oil pan, maybe the gasket is leaking or the pan isn't on tight enough. The last check would be to use a flashlight and thick towel and look around your engine after it's warm, using the towel to try and touch places where the oil could be coming from.

If the oil is more red than black, it may be transmission oil comming from the transmission cooler lines connecting to the radiator. Let the engine run, and look for these lines to drip. If infact it is the connection at the radiator, turn off the engine, unthread the lines, wrap the threaded end with teflon tape about three times around an reconnect the lines. Try to remove any residual oil with brake cleaner and run engine again to check for any further leaks, then check the transmission oil level with the engine on idle.

Take a large cardboard box and flatten it. Mark it front, rear, left and right. Place this under the area where the oil leak is occurring. This will allow you to determine several things that will help you with the diagnosis.
1. Where the leak is.
2. What the leak is. Black-engine oil, green-coolant, red-trans fluid, power steering fluid, etc.
Then when you come back to answers someone can help you determine what is leaking.

Where's the puddle? Front of engine, side, rear? Could be a whole host of reasons if we know where the leak is!
