Since it has expired, here's what you should do.
1st, don't waste your time with AVG, spybot, ad aware, CA, spyhunter, or anything of the sort. Stay away from anything that is FREE when it comes to spyware and antivirus. There is a reason why they free. They are NOT good.
2nd, You need some of the best software out there. Norton Systemworks is very good. That's the only good software from Norton. I wouldn't recommend Norton Internet security, its not that great. Now the best software you should get is Spysweeper with Anti-virus, this software is too good and gets better everyday. It blocks over 170,600 threats. No other software can compete with that or come close for that matter. It catches everything. I've used them all and it is 2nd to none.
3rd, after you install and update the software, since its in your system you will have to turn off system restore and then go into safe mode and run the scan and eliminate the virus. then after removal, reboot and turn system restore back on.
4th, (Optional) I recommend a Firewall from Zone Alarm, their free version is so good. Or you can buy their Pro version, but the free version will do more than the job.
5th, any probs during or after you do all this, send me an e-mail.

First try an online scan to remove the virus, then get another antivirus program and update it consistently. And "free" doesn't always make a program a bad thing. I've used free and paid for virus software. Norton is a waste of time as it's a huge system bloater

AVG
go here.....
http://free.grisoft.com/doc/2/lng/us/tpl/v5
Avg pound for pound is the best out....its free and antiviruses like Norton and Mcafee cant hold a candle to it...it doesnt have as many options as the others but unlike Norton and especially Mcafee if u decide that u dont want it just uninstall it and its all gone.......Mcafee is almost impossible to get rid of.....plus w/ AVG when it finds a problem it shows u were the root of the problem is, which is nice because if for some reason Avg cant delete or quarrentine the issue it shows u exactly where its at in ur comp so u can manually delete it.....updates automatically....totally hands free.....plus its not a resource hog like Norton...Avast is another free one but it doesnt compare to AVG......u wont be disappointed w/ this program.... enjoy :)

1) Go to free.grisoft.com and download AVG Free.
2) Notice how many other people in this thread recommend AVG.
3) Go to the AVG homepage and notice all those little awards lying around.
4) Ignore the advice of a cut & paste computer technician who insists that free software is no good.

Disable your current anti-virus and replace it with "AVG Free", from http://download.com
Or check the web site of your current virus program. Usually when the subscription runs out, you stop getting the updates automatically, but you can go to their site and download the lastest manually for free with most of them.
