Don't be negative and dwell on the bad parts of our society, but provide a safe and open relationship so they feel they can come to you when they want to talk. Show them that people can be good and loving , but demonstrating it at home. Teach them the dangers of drugs, alcohol and strangers beginning young. Get involved with their school, and parents groups etc. Give them your attention and realize they grow up too fast.

You could try not hiding it from them in the first place. It helps children if they are not hidden away in a happy childhood, then get exposed to all the evil of the world at once. That's what causes so many people to crack, do drugs, get depressed, shoot up schools, etc... If you protect them they will not be emotionally prepared for the real world.

Don't fill their heads with utopian thinking. We live on a crowded planet, in which each of us has private, unique experience and desires, and we're all fallible. The opportunities for misunderstandings are rife, and there will be some pushing and shoving of both literal and figurative sorts. That most people keep the jostling within civilized limits is a miracle of civilization, and we should all value this.
___Humans mess up, and mess up morally, and hurt one another. Some of the hurt is minor, so save your energy for the big hurts. Forgiveness is the key, and not a sappy, romantic "easy" forgiveness. Forgiveness means not hating someone who causes one actual injury. And it doesn't preclude justice.
___When I can view the "corrupt" world as including my own corruptions, then I'm in a better position to deal with it perspicuously. But if I am going to view the rest of the world as partaking of a corruption to which I cast myself as somehow immune, then I'm setting myself up for bogus indignation and unhappiness. Teach your kids to be thankful for every kindness and every civility they encounter, and not to resent every injury as a major injustice, and they'll be ready for life in the world.

You love them and protect them as much as you can.You remain honest with them and make sure they know that they can make a difference in the world. Whether it is good or bad is up to them and will depend on the choices they make. But mostly you just love them.

You don't. You tell them right from wrong. And you just be there with them always. Help them when they need help and do your best as a parent. That's all you can do. Think about when you were growing up.

I think you can prepare them by not sheltering them from it. Let them see the bad as well as the good and teach them to stand up for what they believe.

First I would research the most child-friendly places to live, low crime, nice schools, recreational facilities, etc. If you move to one of those places, you'll have a huge jump on your child's future place in a healthy society.
