Gerrard is a midfielder...Messi is a striker However..If you compare there performances now ..Gerrard is way better...just watch him playing ...Did you forget what he did against Barcelona..Gerrard will definetly be remembered by Liverpool fans as a LEGEND,,
What Messi did this season was score 3 goals against Real Madrid..but is that Enough??i cant blame him though he is injured and i still Love him but Gerrard is better

Gerrard is a rock for Liverpool. He is a solid player with a great attitude and is often vital to Liverpool's performances. Great captain and leader. Can direct and organize his side through the midfield better than most and with great efficiency when he's playing at his potential. Messi has proven his worth and I believe in time will be a superior player. The boy is special. Calm, quiet and his mind is always on the game. He has little or no ego so his attitude is solid. Seeing as they play different roles and positions I think it's not fair to compare them. Both are important to their teams, both are capable of finding the win. In the end however if Messi reaches the heights he is expected to I think he will be seen by many to the better player.

Different players. Messi is the typical South American no 10 Gerrard is a typical British midfield general with some hundreds and thousands thrown on top.

Gerrard is midfield and messi is forward, right now gerrard, I think he is the best english player today but mark my word in a couple of years or so messi will win the golden ball and everything he will be the best. Did you know Barcelona pays him more than they pay Ronaldinho.

Tuff to compare the 2 since Lionel is a striker and Steve is a holding midfielder. IF I compare them straight up I’d take Steve since he is more polished and has been in several huge games. 21 yr old Messi vs. 21 yr old Gerrard. I take Messi! Not the definitive answer but as a football fan I’m sure you under stand. Cheers!
